Beautifully rustic and cozy. Cabins were very comfortable. Nice bathroom and shower. Our cabin included a lovely porch swing. There was a shared fire pit surrounded by welcoming Adirondack chairs in front of our place. Breakfast was not available. Fridge and coffee machine in cabin. Horses and cows in the pasture. The evening entertainment included fiddlers and square dancing for all to enjoy. Would definitely stay here again.

Expedia contacted us the night (7pm) of our booking to inform us this place was overbooked and they could no longer accommodate us. We were unable to contact the property directly and were in an area where places to stay were limited. Overall, we were not happy with the situation and the way it was handled.

The property has great potential but is in a bit of disrepair. The cottages are cozy but in need of some updates, specifically the bathroom. The beds need to be replaced as they were very uncomfortable. Enjoyed seeing the farm animals. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed due to kitchen issues. The property owner and his daughter are good, kind people and very friendly. If you are looking for something rustic with comforts of running water, showers and plumbing in a country setting you may like this.

Bait and switch! Pics look decent on website but in person the place is a disaster! Moldy smells in the cabins. Roof shingles are rotten so they put tarps on the roofs. Damage everywhere that is easy to fix but they don’t. We refused to stay there upon arriving, and they said they would refund us….nope, they lied! Chased them for over a month and was promised a refund but still nothing! Trust me when i say, its a dump!!!!!!!

We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful cabin property. The place is surprisingly large, with nearly 40 cabins, and entering through the main gate feels almost like arriving at a historic European estate. In the distance, you can see beautiful mountains, and on a sunny day, simply walking around the property is incredibly relaxing and a great way to unwind. Our cabin was very spacious, with one bedroom and a separate living room. The interior has a charming old-European style, which gives the cabin a unique and cozy atmosphere. The host family was very warm and welcoming, and we really appreciated their hospitality. The only downside was that the check-in process took a little longer than expected. Also, since this is a cabin property surrounded by nature, there were quite a few bugs and some spider webs inside the cabin. This may be part of the experience of staying in a more natural, rustic setting, but it was slightly uncomfortable at times. Overall, it was a pleasant and relaxing stay, especially for anyone who enjoys nature, mountain views, and a quiet getaway.

The pictures are much nicer than reality. The animals are nice from a distance but dirty up close. They are well fed though. The house and the cabins are very musty smelling. They need new curtains and upholstery to get rid of that. The bones of the place are ok but it needs a really deep and extensive update. The food was good but not sure farm to table as described. Maybe we visited at the wrong time of year. If you’re a salmon fisherman and looking for bare essentials it will probably work fine. I’d stay in Beddeck next time.

I always hesitant to write a negative review as I recognize that it can adversely affect that bsiness. However, I depend on the honesty of others when selecting accommodations, so it is only right that I am honest about my experience at The Normaway. To put it simply, they should not be in business. The whole place is run-down, and basically run by two very old farmers in very dirty old clothing who have no idea how to run a business like this. They have a very nice young man working for them who they said is a nephew. He accompanied us to our cabin when we arrived. While he was standing there I said I always check the beds, and when I pulled back the sheets there was dirt, grass and hair between the sheets. I said we couldn't stay and asked him to refund the money we had paid. He said he understood (they haven't refunded me yet) but asked me to not write a negative review. For them to only refund if I don't post a negative review is not ethical. I have no idea why they have any positive reviews unless its from friends or relatives, people who want their money returned, or people who feel sorry for them. They offer music some nights (not the night that we were there) so perhaps some reviews are for the music only, and not from people who have actually stayed. It was already getting dark when we arrived at The Normaway and we had a difficult time finding any place to stay in Cape Breton. We ended up having drive all the way to Antigonish that night for a place
