Learn more about Lochearnhead

Nestled where Loch Earn meets the highlands, this village offers kayaking adventures and hiking trails with spectacular mountain views. Ask locals about the best fishing spots or rent bikes to explore the Rob Roy Way that passes through the area.

Getting to this location was a rare challenge. I have booked this stay with family and friends on my way to Isle of Skye and didn't arrive to Loch Lomond National Park until nearly midnight. We were told the road has some potholes and arrived in two fully loaded saloon cars as sadly had no other option. The road was truly bad but if we passed it then most of the cars will as well. We didn't get to see the landscape until we have awoken the next morning, although the abundance of stars and a hooting of a tawny owl at 1 am was mesmerising. In the morning the weather was pretty somber but it hasn't taken away the beauty of Loch Voil. I went for a walk alongside the loch but didn't meet anyone at all. Walks at Loch Voil are truly good for the soul.
