Unfortunately, our experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing, especially considering this was a family trip with two young children. From the moment we entered the room, we were met with a strong smell of marijuana—something completely unacceptable in an establishment that should ensure a proper and safe environment for all guests. We immediately informed the hotel management, expecting at least a solution or a room change, but the response was non-existent. We received no compensation, no formal apology, and no real interest in resolving the issue, which shows a total lack of responsibility and respect towards guests. It’s a real shame, because we were looking for a peaceful and relaxing stay as a family, and instead we faced an uncomfortable and unpleasant situation that ruined our experience. We will certainly not return and cannot recommend this hotel to anyone—especially not to families with children.

This hotel was wonderful! The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The TV connection was intermittent which normally would not have concerned me to much as I enjoyed exploring the area, however this was near the end of my trip and I did want to do a little more relaxing. Speaking to the area, it was an absolutely great location! It was a short (uphill) walk to the castle and other historical sites I had on my list! There were so many great places to eat and shop within a 5-10 minute walk. Staff was helpful and friendly and made sure I had everything I needed!

This hotel is in a fantastic location. It's easy to walk to the shops, restaurants and the castle. We had 2 standard king rooms. The mattresses were pretty bad. The rest of the rooms desperately need up dating. It was very hot and the windows only opened a crack. It was convenient to have a restaurant on site but the food was just average and over priced. This hotel wants to be a 5 star luxury hotel but it just isn't. With some upgrading it could be great. I probably will stay elsewhere the next time I visit Stirling

This hotel is a former school, and it's an architectural treat to see and stay in. Plenty of free parking on the hotel grounds, even in the center of Stirling. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Very convenient to everything in Stirling, which is a tourist destination without a tourist feel (no tweed/tartan shops, etc.--just a regular Scottish town with a modest castle on the top of the hill).

Beautiful building and amenities. The room was perfect as a solo traveler staying just one night. The deep bathtub was great after many days of walking. Only complaint is how far the window could open. I know it can be a safety concern, that’s why it was limited. But a couple more inches would have made a huge difference and still not allowed anything to slip out.

This is not (or no longer) a four star hotel. Rooms have not been renovated probably for at least 40 years. Only thing saving the hotel is that it is very conveniently located to visit the Stirling castle.

The Stirling Highland Hotel is clean, and nearby to restaurants, highly-rated excursions, and historical destinations. Parking is available to guests and there are plenty of spaces (just remember to follow the prompts for registration of your vehicle per the hotel). A spa, restaurant, and bar are all available to guests on the property. I would highly recommend the Stirling Highland Hotel. We would stay again!

This property is extremely dated, dirty and stunk of cigarette smoke. The tv remote didn’t work and there was a flickering light in bathroom creating a strobe effect. I would never stay again. Overall a very disappointing property. Check in staff were lovely though.

The building is old, definitely incredible to stay in an historical building. My only complaint and disappointment was the bathroom. The bathrooms really need some updating because the paint is peeling and there were spots of mold in our bathroom. Our first day we had hot water, but not the rest of our stay. The restaurant was great. We had a party of 6 for dinner and everyone really enjoyed their meals. Great job chiefs! Bartenders need more experience, but they were all so kind and willing to help with our questions.

We loved the proximity to places in Stirling and the proximity for day trips. The only reason I gave a 4 for cleanliness was because some shifts of housekeeping are a bit lazy and chose to refold and hang used towels rather than replace them, coffee wasn't always replenished, and sheets after a week were not changed unless we specifically asked. We stayed two weeks. I would absolutely stay here again, I just know to stay on top of housekeeping. They have a restaurant and bar at the hotel which was great, and there were others within walking distance. Nice leisure space with pool and sauna. Front desk staff very friendly and helpful.
