We were initially given a room on the first floor, and we could clearly hear noise from the street. Luckily, we were able to change to a room on the third floor. There were, however, a couple of disappointments. There were construction works at the hotel, which was not very pleasant. In addition, we were asked to pay a €50 deposit at check-in. We were quite surprised by this, as it was not mentioned anywhere in advance. We were told that the deposit would be released at check-out, but it has been a week since our stay and we have not yet seen the deposit returned to our bank account.

A big thank you to all the staff at DoubleTree who made our stay special and memorable by going above and beyond in every aspect possible. Right from the get go, check in staff were welcoming and friendly, having noticed on a passport that we were celebrating a birthday they provided an upgrade to one of the rooms. After checking in we went out to explore Lisbon, only to return to the room with a pleasant and special surprise, the hotel provided a lovely bottle of chilled Cava and some cake. The gesture along with the service, cleanness of the room and friendliness of the staff made it special and memorable and will recommend this hotel to anyone.

Welcome was very comforting. Information given about tourist attractions was not very accurate. Rooms and overall design in black not very appealing. The corridor feels like a chicken box with room numbers on the floor. Design of the rooms not so lucky. Shower in the bathtub is actually a big health hazard. Specially for people which are not so mobile difficult to get in and out. When back in Lisbon we will consider another hotel.

The room was comfortable, but the closet door swung over the only area where we could plug in the kettle for tea; the door was flush with the counter which meant we could not open or close the door with the kettle set on the counter. Very odd!

I liked the foyer and the facilities available. We weren’t allowed in the room until 3 hours after the check in. This was quite inconvenient for the 1st day. We wasted the whole day waiting for the room to be open. We were promised it would be ready 3 times. I didn’t find the work going on in the area very comfortable. Outside was full of rubble and uneven pathways.

I didnt like the food at the restaurant. I dont recommend eating there. It is walking distance to Alfama if you are a walker, if not, i dont recommend it. Shopping and food is within walking distance. Eat somewhere cool about a 10-15 mins walk. Shopping is less expensive. There is a lot of contstruction in the area but other than that it's a peaceful area.
