Such a great place! My mom and I stayed to hike Wetterhorn peak. Beautiful property right next to the river and very close to the town. The decor is so cute and we love that each cabin is themed differently. We love the Texan!

Absolutely beautiful! Location was great! Loved the cabin. Suggestion - since we were to clean it and wash sheeets: Leave cleaning supplies and laundry detergent for the guests. Other than that, Was perfect!

Cozy cabins

It was cold when we got to the cabin. Juanita was great at getting us extra blankets and a space heater to warm the cabin up. It was super cozy. We wish we could have stay a week. Awesome little place to stay will be going back and staying a little longer. Absolutely love this place.

This is a very rustic property in a mountain town. You wouldn’t expect a super modern property here , so it is ok. Overall it was clean, safe, and functional.

a group of 6 college students were doing the colorado trail and this was the a check in point. They upgraded the cabin for free and allowed us to check early as the kids got in earlier than expected. I would definitely recommend the Texan.

The property location is amazing. The cabin we stayed in was very rustic, poorly lit. , and not all appliances worked. The larger cabins were updated with modern appliances and were very spacious and nice. Visitors are expected to clean and empty the trash when leaving.

I read a lot of negative reviews but honestly this was better than I expected! We were at the Fisherman cabin which I thought was a 2 bedroom but it was one bed in living room and one in a bedroom with a door. No big deal. Great spot where you can walk to town or the river. The heat wasn’t on so we asked Matt for one and he got us a heater. Clean cabin. Great water pressure. Quiet. The only thing was cabin had a code which wasn’t sent to me before check in but we caught Matt who was managing property and he gave us code. Really enjoyed the spot and great it’s dog-friendly. Would go again but get a bigger cabin

realize these are rustic cabins not luxury hotels

As with many places in Lake City, staff is limited and often filled with seasonal help. Check in was very informal- key was inside cabin that was rented. However, the primary person in charge (Matthew) was reachable and communicable through text and was extremely helpful in my transition from one cabin my first night to a different one the second night due to how I was able to reseve them. Sure there were creaks in the cabin and not perfect weather stripping but the bed was more comfortable than many lodges and fancy hotels I've stayed. Night wss peaceful once the UTVs were in for the night. My "neighbors" were very kind and friendly, too. Definitely a sense of community if you let yourself feel.

Cons: A rat ate the bread I had left on the table. The refrigerator froze my fresh food. The door didn’t lock from the inside. Cobwebs in the corners of the rooms. The water tasted awful so buy from the store and bring in. Pros: Quiet community. Close to the river. All 4 of us had really warm showers which made us very happy. Know what you are getting here.

We were greeted as soon as we pulled on to the property by a woman, presumably the owner. She quickly dispatched maintenance to repair the broken step to our cabin. The bathroom toilet was filthy and would.not flush, the plunger was broken too! But again, the owner quickly dispatched housekeeping to rectify. It was an old cabin, but other than the toilet, the cleanliness was acceptable. We both felt it was priced above where it should be.

This property did not meet our expectations. It was chilly when we arrived. The furnace was not working and the space heater provided did not work. It was difficult to contact the staff. Staff provided a working space heater, but it took nearly 24 hours to make the cabin comfortable. There was no lighter for the gas stove. The frying pan was deeply scratched and too small for our needs. We ended up eating out our first night. There was no adequate pot with lid to make hot cereal for three people. The light over the stove did not work. All the outlets were very high, making it difficult to charge devices. The beds were comfortable and there was enough bedding. We made do. It wasn't terrible.

The cabin was pretty outdated. Everything was just pretty dingy and needed replaced. The wallpaper around the toilet area is pretty gross. I’m pretty basic and just require a shower and a bed, my wife however was definitely not thrilled with the cleanliness or condition of the cabin. The electrical was functional, but definitely not professionally installed. But it works. The cabin across from us had a roof patch made from a twisted tea can. Funny and ingenuitive as it was, it’s just an example of the lack of actual upkeep. Again, if you just need a place to stay and easy on the wallet, it’s not BAD, but don’t expect much more than that.

When we drove in it was 12:30. The office door was locked. I knocked no answer. There was a list with my name and what room we were in so we found it and it was open. Beds were made and everything was clean so we put our stuff in the kitchen. A lady came rushing in saying you cant put your stuff in there until 3pm. We told her we had an atv ride scheduled at 1 and we would not be back until 5 or 6. She said we cant clean around your stuff. We had 1 suitcase and 2 totes. After a big fuss she jammed our 3 items on the bench seat to the kitchen table and said we'll ok. We came back and everything looked the same. Well in the morning she knocked on our door at 9:59 and said are you leaving. I said yes we were getting ready. I was in my pajamas. She said check out is at 10 am. There was nothing in the room that said 10am check out and maybe it says that on line but I really thought most check outs are at 11am. I said oh I didn't know and we would be out by 11. She said something like well no later. I went to the office to tell her we were leaving at 10:55 and again office door lock and no one there. I really wonder what they do between 10am and 3pm. They must be very busy. I would not recommend this place.
