We had a larger room including a kitchenette, nice. The local staff are extraordinary. It’s easy to get around Kyoto by bus and Metro from the location with Google maps and an IC card such as pasmo. We enjoyed the sauna spa.

Location, location, location! Minn Gion is an easy walk from Hanamikoji-doori, Ponto-cho, and all of the madness at Sanjo Kawaramachi. For convenience, there is literally a Family Mart next door. The property itself is new and in good shape. The kitchen drawers were a little cheap, but that wasn't a problem. Our room was perfectly clean and pleasant, although unfortunately a guest dropped a plate of food in front of our door and we ended cleaning it up. That's just bad luck. We loved the easy check in (using a QR code), which was helpful because we got in quite late. Check out was easy, too. The door code was 9 digits long, which is great for security but not great for convenience. Overall, this was a solid choice and we would stay again. We would also recommend it to friends.

Pros: spacious room for a family of four. Clean and very comfortable. Walking distance to train & restaurants. Cons: mostly automated from check in to check out inc. door code for room. Fine if you don’t have issues. Very strict about early check in or check out. Bag storage area was required as we arrived early but the locks were not working. Was kinda frustrating after a big day of travel. No one to help. Also onsen is lovely but you pay extra even as a guest. For the price we felt it should have been included.

Room was very large and comfortable. Were given a basement suite when we booked which turned out to be a blessing. Very high ceilings, nice bathroom and big bed. Area was all kept and old Kyoto was walking distance. Check in was a bit choppy but you just need to follow the directions.
