Traveler's nightmare
The location of the hostel is great as this is right in the central business district however inside the building doesn't feel like you are still in the CBD. The building is stuffy and so crowded. The pictures do not in any way represent the true facilities. There is literally no space in the room to place luggage or even walk around the room. Maybe my expectations were too high for this place. I had to forego the booking and booked another place which was much better and plenty of space. This was one of my worst bookings in my travelling life. I would never wish anyone to go through such.

Booked on review ratings but very disappointed
I booked this for a friend for a 12 night stay based on its high review rating.Upon arrival had to ask them remake bed as sheets and pillow cases dirty.She said TV never worked whole stay. Aircon broke after first day and took a week to repair after many requests. She got told its only a cheap room so get what you get for that money kind of thing. She also warned females that night manager on one occasion entered room without knocking using staff pass asking if she wanted join him in drinks. She was most shocked by this and felt bit unsafe.

Best location for a cheap price.
Marrigold Hostel is located in Chungking Mansion, that has the best location for a traveler. It is near MTR stations, with local restaurants and fast food chains nearby like Jollibee and Mcdo. Price is cheap like the rest of the hostels in Chungking Mansions so don't expect it to be spacious. Just a typical clean place to sleep and store your luggages. But what I don't like with Marrigold is being transferred from their main hostel (Marrigold) to other affiliated hostels bec they already gave your booking to someone else. How could they give you that inconvenience when you already paid for your room!!! These other hostels that they will be transferring you to could possibly be in another block that may require you to take stairs coz the elevator doesnt reach your floor level. It could possibly be in the same block but on a different floor that could also mean it belongs to a different elevator. So you have to go to the ground level and queue with the rest of the people for the elevator. Just a suggestion to the Marrigold admin, if we book and pay for your hostel (which i dont plan of doing again) let us stay there coz that's what we've paid for. Don't let us stay to another hostel that doesnt have a frontdesk coz not anyone can use their cellphone to call your frontdesk (from another hostel) if we need something, or when we need to check in or check out.

Good
It's a good hostel if you're on a budget. You'll get what you paid for. Nice staff very accomodating. Not so clean but you can rest well after your tiring day. It's just so creepy in your way to the hostel because of the indians on your way to the property & very long line at the elevator. But all in all we had a good stay.

Hair dryer is not functional, but the room is good. Bed is comfy but the comfort room is a little bit small. Overall our stay is okay.

A hostel is a hostel!
Definitely not for everyone, tiny rooms but such is HK. Lovely staff, elevator ride might find yourself sharing with a few pots of curry to be served in one of the low budget restaurants/caffees bellow. Extreme amount of different nationalities working/hawking in that emediate area however walk a block in either direction and your right in the thick ov HK/Kowloon. It is what it is "hostel " deffo get what you pay for.

Pros and Cons of the stay
Pros -The room was ok for the price. -The location was great. very accessible to transportation. Cons -The door knob on our bathroom is broken. -The lining up on the elevator was horrible.

The staff was amazing. You did have to ask for them to change the sheets and make the bed. Sometimes they forgot to do so. The main thing about the sheets are, the cover is too thin, I was either too hot by turning down the A/C or too cold. I couldn't get comfortable. Instead of using just a duvet, they need a comforter inside the duvet. The staff was extremely friendly. If you don't know about hotels in Chungking, they are all extremely small. The main I look for a hotel is the cleanliness. The hotel was very clean. I felt comfortable walking barefoot at the Marrigold. Some of the hotels in Chungking are very dirty.

Clean, great value and security
Our stay was amazing. 3 impt factors was meet. Price, cleanliness and safety.. added was the friendly owner and pinay staff . Personal ref per room, free mineral water with true hot and cold dispenser. Clean towers and sheets. Strong hot shower. More spacious toilet than others. Complete free shampoo soap hand soap microvave and big ref outside.

Perfect for a family vacations in Hong Kong
A great place to stay in Hong Kong. Very central and easy to use transport. While a slight inconvenience the renovations to the lobby were being conducted very well and mindful of guests.

I checked in at the hotel that I paid for but didn't stay there, was taken to another hotel when I ask why I am not staying at merigold they reply that new London where I stay and merigold are the same, I was tired from my travel and didn't argue with them,to all who is booking the merigold be aware of this and don't go into the Indian part of chungking mansion very dangerous stay away.

Not worth a penny!
It was a horrible experience for me and my kids. We all end up sleeping in the airport. Customer service is totally zero, place safety is zero. Not worth even a penny, please find some place decent and safe.

Awkward access in very busy building
This hotel was part of a larger complex that contained dozens of other lodging businesses (guest houses, hostels, etc.). Very difficult to find upon arrival through the maze of shops and food vendors in the lobby. Long lines for the elevators. Once we arrived at the office, the check in was super smooth and handled by a friendly worker. The room was very small. We found several pieces of luggage under our beds and it smelled of food. The shower was in the same small space as the toilet and sink (no curtain, no divider, not raised from the floor). Would not stay again.

This hotel is cheating its customers. Our flight was cancelled the day when we were supposed to get to HongKong, so we called the hotel to inform them we will arrive the next day. But the next day when we arrived, the hotel said we had informed them to cancelled both two nights due to miscommunication　and they will refund one night. However, when we called hotels.com agent, we were told there is NO refund from the hotel at all. Please review this as a complaint, this is the worse hotel we have ever met.

Die Unterkunft an sich war in Ordnung und sehr nett. Leider was das gebuchte Zimmer nicht mehr vorhanden obwohl es 14 Tage vorher gebucht war. Deshalb musste ich 100 HK Dollar extra zahlen für ein anderes Zimmer.

Kein Hotel, sondern Arbeiterzimmer
Ich muss alle dringend davor warnen, hier zu buchen! Das hat nix mit Hotelzimmern zu tun, das ist so, als ob man eine Abstellkammer zugewiesen bekommt. Jede Gefängniszelle in Deutschland hat mehr Kompfort! Es ist einfach eine Wohnung in einem Hochhaus, die Zimmer sind gefließt und total dreckig. Die Bettlacken waren fleckig. Das Klo hat die Grösse, wie man sie in einem Wohnmobil findet, ich habe nun ja nix großes erwartet, aber so schlimm, das habe ich noch nie erlebt, da wundert man sich, dass das überhaupt auf eine Hotelseite aufgenommen wird. Es ist schon schwierig, die Wohnung zu finden, wenn man in das Hochhaus reinkommt, ist die unterste Etage erstmal in siffiger Markt, inkl. Gerüche. Dann bedrängen einen lauter Inder, die einem eine Karte geben möchten, damit man bei ihnen essen geht, wovon ich dringend abraten muss. Der Aufzug liegt im Block D, wenn man in das Haus reinkommt, rechts, dann links, dann kommt ein Fahrstuhl. Die "Höhle" ist im 11. Stock, der rechte Fahrstuhl hält an den ungeraden Etagen, man könnte auch den Linken nehmen, an einer geraden Etage aussteigen und eine Treppe zu Fuss gehen. Warum? Der Fahrstuhl verträgt nicht viel,nur 5 Leute, es bilden sich lange Schlangen, da sollte man zu Stosszeiten locker 20 Minuten einplanen, um überhaupt den Fahrstuhl zu benutzen. In der Wohnung werden 100 HKD Kaution verlangt. Ich bin gleich gegngen und habe ein anderes Hotel gebucht, man sollte auch in der Gegend nix buchen, alles das gleiche.

한국분들에게 알립니다. 절대로 청킹맨션쪽으로 숙박하지 마세요!! 제가 묵었던곳은 란 곳입니다 그곳안에는 100여개 가까운 감옥같은 숙박업체가 있습니다. 거의 인도인들이 운영하며, 만약 화재발생시 최악의 참사가 발생할 수 있습니다. 간단하게 요점만 정리하겠습니다. 1. 완전 더럽습니다. 냉장고안은 완전 곰팡이...ㅠ 청소도 안해주고 시트커버도 너무 더렵고... 2.TV, 냉장고,전화기 다 고장입니다. 3.엘리베이터 타려면 엄청 기다려야 합니다. 4.간단한 비품도 없고, 물먹으려면 밖에 나가서 먹어야 합니다. 5.외출시 룸안의 개인소지품 조심하세요. 훔쳐가고 발뺌합니다. 6.룸안 바닥엔 물이 고입니다.아마도 화장실물이 룸안의 바닥으로 나오는듯.. 7.사진하고는 전혀 상관없습니다.사진에 속지마세요. 패밀리룸 사용했지만,거의 고시원만하다고 생각하면 됩니다. 8.화장실은 완전 좁습니다. 9.절대로 친절을 기다하지 마세요. 시트커버 갈아달라고 부탁하면 험하게 인상쓰고 귀찮아합니다. 호텔스닷컴을 통하여 비싼돈주고 예약했는데... 도대체 호텔스닷컴은 그러한 숙박 업소들을 검증이나 하는지 궁금하네요...

A tiny suite
It's the smallest suite I have ever stayed . There's no any corridor , chair , table ...but only a bed and a bathroom. It's near to the shopping district and surrounded by overcrowded streets .
