"The staff and setting were lovely, but it’s not well maintained. No hairdryer in room but told there was one, then given a broken hairdryer and then got another. Shower stopped working halfway through and water turned off, then had to have a cold shower."

"The hotel is great, with an excellent on-site breakfast and dinner option. The staff was very helpful. Only thing is that since there is no AC, it can get very hot when it’s hot outside. Still highly recommended!"

"The small village of Tarland is very quiet, so we were surprised at just how good the Commercial Hotel is. I understand that a lot of walkers & cyclists use the hotel and I'm not surprised, as it is in beautiful surroundings and only 5 miles from Aboyne. We received a very pleasant welcome, and our room was large, beautifully furnished and very quiet. Whilst we stayed for 2 nights, circumstances meant we only had breakfast although on our last evening, we saw that the restaurant was quite popular. Breakfast was special with a large choice of cook to order food and lots of tea or coffee. We will stay here again and recommend it to any one looking for a nice hotel in the area."

"The staff are amazing the bar is great and very well priced, the room was really nice apart from the bathroom, there was cobwebs in the corners and mould around the shower tray also the shower head wouldn't stay up the pole it kept sliding down. The bathroom could do with a shelf by the sink to put your stuff on. Only basic stuff really. The pancakes with fruit at breakfast was tinned mixed fruit. The cooked breakfast was excellent. The hotel just needs a few basic things changing and it will be 5 star."
