"We really enjoyed our brief stay in the dog-friendly Ferienresidenz Brauneberger Hof. The small town is very quaint with a superb walking path alongside the Mosel River. Our very comfortable room had patio access to the back garden for our dogs. The shared eating area and kitchen were exceedingly well-equipped. "The confirmation from Expedia said "check-in starts at 3:00 pm". We arrived at 6:10 pm, and there was nobody at the reception desk. There was a sign on the wall that said "check in 15:00 to 18:00". We did not know there was a 6:00 pm deadline for check in. We could not find anybody around, and no instructions for arrival after 18:00. And no communications from the hotel. I'm sure they must have known that there were more people with reservations that had no yet arrived. We came very close to just leaving and finding another hotel in town. In the end, we wish we had. Some people outside said to call the number for the hotel. I did and got and older woman who seemed very irritated that I had called, and surprised. She finally told me that there would be someone at reception again at 8:00 pm (20:00). So we went for a drive around town and went to the grocery store, and got gasoline, and got back to the hotel at 8:00 pm. There were about 25 people in the lobby waiting to check in. Two ladies were trying to do it together. One was going through a stack of printed reservations. Of course, everyone else was checked in before we were, at 8:45 pm. Parking lot out back was full of potholes. We finally got into our room, above the reception lobby, at 9:00 pm. We had been driving all day and were so tired. They were having some kind of disco party on the ground floor, people smoking and talking right under our window for hours. Not much sleep. Small room."
