"Nightmarish experience. I was traveling with a friend who wanted his own room. We booked this hotel at the last minute as it was close to the NP HQs. We arrived at 7 pm to find no front desk, just a bar area that was manned by a young lady who stated that we couldn’t stay as the owner had not been paid. Then the owner called stating that it was late so we could stay and that payment could be discussed in the morning. The hotel did not have wifi as advertised, there was no running or hot water...

"I had a great time at Virunga Homestay, I initially only booked for a few nights but then stayed over a week. Francis is a very considerate, helpful, and accommodating host. The place is very clean, spacious and quiet. The homestay has good wifi and warm showers and the breakfast was wonderful, I highly recommend it. I will definitely come back. "

"We were lucky enough to stay in Volcanoes Over View during our gorilla trekking visit. We were kindly met by Oliver and his team, and he made the experience 10/10, going above and beyond to make our visit as comfortable as possible. We were kindly upgraded to the tents. He was able to source gaiters and gloves for our treks at short notice. He provided delicious spicy tea in the evening and was patient enough to teach us the game of Igosoro. Anyone thinking of doing the Gorilla Trekking or wanting to visit this beautiful part of Rwanda - definitely put this accomodation front of mind."
