the room was humongous and spotless. room amenities was sufficient. was surprised that they included soap bar and shampoo from bvlgari. staff was very polite and friendly. food and service was amazing!
This hotel is typical Japanese style with over 100 history, it’s maintained very well. Room is big, food is delicious n environment is beautiful. The service fm hotel staffs are very good, you just feel that you are so welcomed. We stayed for 3 nights n hv enjoyed very much!
Traditional stay in beautiful room & hotel. As non Japanese speakers the staff tried really hard with Google translate to communicate with us which was appreciated. Food was delicious & different each day. The garden view from the rooms & dining area were lovely. The only minor complaint was the hard Japanese style pillow which seemed to be full of rice or some kind of grain??? We tried to embrace it as part of the experience! Great location, can walk everywhere and/or there is a bus stop outside the hotel. Highly recommended.
Interesting traditional inn but modern facilities. Staff guide you around the property, which is quite unusual when you're used to staying in standars hotels. Staff have varying levels of English but thanks to Google translate it didn't cause any problems.
Slight miscommunication about our check out time, but it was resolved and we found our way out of the hotel(!)
This is a beautiful ryokan and the room itself was great. Peaceful, traditional, with a beautiful well-kept garden. Unfortunately, the staff spoke very poor English, to the point that communication was difficult. Also, they insisted on rigid timelines for breakfast and dinner: they come knocking on your door for each meal -- it felt a bit as if I am living in a dorm. Most importantly, I did not appreciate that you forced me to checkout at 10:30am, when the official checkout is 11am. No explanation given. Also, drinks during the "free" (included in price) kaiseki dinner are not free, and this was unclear -- I got a bill on the last day. Location of this ryokan is great and staff are very friendly. I just felt that they were a little intrusive in our days.
We recently stayed at Kinjohro during our visit to Kanazawa. The staff were truly wonderful, incredibly courteous, attentive, and eager to help. Their hospitality was warm and genuine, and they were easily the highlight of our stay.
Unfortunately, the property itself did not live up to the expectations set by the price point. The building feels quite worn, with threadbare carpets and bathrooms that could benefit from a much deeper cleaning and maintenance. We also woke up with multiple bug bites, which raised concerns for us about the overall cleanliness of the rooms.
We were especially excited for the dining experience, but both dinner and breakfast were disappointing. The dinner lacked the depth of flavor we were expecting, and while the presentation was nice, the meal overall felt underwhelming. Breakfast was similar, and on the second morning our eggs were served completely cold.
We had really looked forward to staying here and experiencing what we thought would be a special property in Kanazawa. Unfortunately, we left feeling disappointed. At a significantly lower price point, this experience might feel more reasonable, but at the current rate, guests expect a much higher level of quality and attention to detail.
The staff were exceptional, but overall the property itself did not meet the standards we had hoped for.
Very traditional Japanese hotel. Enjoyed the experience but as an American, I didn’t think the food was very good and I typically love Japanese food. There was an excessive use of gelatin coating on many of the dishes. Also, 2.25 hours for dinner was too long. We waited 15 mins after finishing each course to get the next one.
