I spent two nights at the Hotel Dormy Inn and loved the convenient location. It’s about a 15 minute walk from the Kagoshima Chūō station (which is a 40 minute bus ride from Kagoshima airport). Just a few blocks down the street is Tenmonken with lots of shops and restaurants, and a bit past that is the Waterfront Park and pier with a ferry to the Sakurajima volcano. The hotel has a breakfast buffet each morning from 6:30-9am with both Japanese and American(ish) food, as well as a late night free ramen bowl from 9:30-11pm. The top floor is the mineral hot springs onsen and sauna. There are vending and ice machines on many of the floors and a coffee maker in the room. The only two negatives were that the pillows were hard and small, and the room had a damp smell, similar to the mineral hot springs. Everything else was perfect and I would love to go back!
