"Hollins Hall has been a great and grand hotel in the past I think. Does it need a revamp? Absolutely! That said, the bed was comfy. It caters for the golfing fraternity mostly it seems. Where Hollins Hall isn't as grand as the name might imply, we do stay there often as it's close to family we visit. In the broad scheme of things it's fine if you need a comfy bed for the night and it's very good value for money. The staff are friendly and helpful, the room was clean ( we had an accessible room - the toilet was too low with someone with mobility issues) the shower was fab and the bar on 2nd floor was nice and serves food until 9.30pm. We didn't eat in the hotel so can't comment on the food quality."

"We booked an accessible room as I'm a new wheelchair user, there's a fab gradual ramp for easy access, doors were heavy & awkward to use, easy check in, the lift was small my husband pushed me in but struggled to stand behind me. Arrived to room on entrance felt the bed was quite close to the door, on unpacking we realised there were no plugs on the right handside of the bed, except by the mirror which was the far end of the room,which I needed for medical equipment, and my phone, there was 2 double sockets on the left, one mid wall by the door the other by the wardrobe otherside of the door, we did get a single extension lead from reception, I used the one by the wardrobe for my phone. We could hear music which went on for a while but was unsure where it was coming from. The bathroom was really lovely with a roll in shower, a secure foldable seat, good height toilet, very spacious. It would be good if there was a sheltered area to smoke. Breakfast was a good choice, cereal, pastries, fruit, cooked breakfast lots of drink choice, unfortunately the breakfast wasn't very hot, which is a shame as it tasted nice. Overall it's a lovely hotel, in a beautiful building. A menu for room service would be a good idea."

"This would have once been a beautiful little family run hotel I imagine. However walking through the door we immediately realised it had not been cared for or well maintained for likely a number of years. Dark, very dated, no visible staff and when we found one they were in a tracksuit and felt like I had walked into their lounge. It felt dead, the bedrooms were dated and dusty with paint peeling and equipment straight from the 80's / 90's. Bedding was clean and location is ideal for places like Howarth or Salts Mill. But that is really where the compliments end sadly."

"The room was clean and well equipped. Not being able to easily open the windows on the hottest day of the year was annoying. A hack to wedge curtains open to allow some air in through the tiny gap available was not needed. A fan was also not available. Having to order food via an app was not great. However it was hot when it arrived. Breakfast ordered for the room didn’t happen. No one took the breakfast order provided to hang on the door despite clearing the dinner tray. I can’t comment on the breakfast as didn’t have time in the end even tho it was paid for."

"6 people stayed in our group. Disappointing that we were charged £25 per couple for early check-in. Even as it was only 30 minutes before normal check in. Reception was not up to speed with our bookings as we had pre-paid for everything but when we checked out they got mixed up and printed bill for full amount. Until we very politely informed them. Also whilst good range of breakfast delights very slow service"
