Sonesta Hotel Houston hotels

"I’m giving this stay 3 stars because the room was pretty clean we stayed in a Suite. The hotel is pretty old so don’t expect luxury. We have stayed at other Hilton Hotels before and were never charged for parking separately which caught me off guard. My fault for not researching this location but we were charged $67 to park two nights self parking btw because they do offer valet for an additional charge. Our stay was $287 already plus $100 deposit. Just so you get an idea on how much you will spend. When we checked in the staff told us about the breakfast upstairs. Next day we go and get breakfast and the staff there ask for our breakfast vouchers which we were not given so they ask for our room number and we’re told “I’ll go look it up for you for free breakfast, but if you don’t have a voucher it’s $30 per person to eat at the buffet.” Ps. We’re told this after we had served our plate and sat down to eat the food. Also it’s hotel breakfast.. grateful for it but for $30/person I would’ve rather gone somewhere else. Anyway since we had already served our plate we just said okay and the staff brings us back our check of $63. So I go back downstairs before paying and ask about our breakfast vouchers . front desk tells me sorry that they forgot to give them to us and then gives me the vouchers. Meaning the man upstairs didn’t go verify for us that we also get free breakfast with our stay which I found annoying. Overall stay was ok I just kept having to pay additional fees here. "

"Uncourteous staff. They picked up a phone call and didn’t help us for a while when we were checking in. Other staffs didn’t help either. At the end they didn’t get us enough directions in this big hotel. But the valet guy was chill & helpful. "

"First night had no hot water at tub or sink. Friday night, sketchy individuals hanging around elevator with no kept trying to operate elevators. Two elderly ladies struggling with luggage cart because none was available to help them. Esspresso machine at coffee bar inop both days. Flip side, small plate food at bar was quite good. Knowledgeable tenders. Neat/clean work out room. Could be so much better with rough edges taken care of"

"It’s more than an eight minute walk to MD Anderson cancer center. This was important to me so I was disappointed."
