"If I could, I would give this hotel zero stars. The check-in process took forever. Breakfast was practically nonexistent — people stood in a long line for omelets, and there wasn’t even enough for everyone. With only one waiter on the floor, getting coffee or a refill was nearly impossible. If a hotel advertises breakfast included, it’s reasonable to expect a decent meal. To make matters worse, a month later the hotel called demanding an extra $22 “hotel charge,” even though everything had already been prepaid online. Be aware of hidden charges if you stay at Anthracite Hotel."

"I want to first say this is the hotel I stay at each time I visit family in the area. It is always clean and the staff is very friendly. Most of all I want to thank the staff and management of this hotel for their kindness and attentiveness to my family that stayed over the weekend. Several of us stayed here while having to attend my nieces funeral in January 2026. After explaining to the staff what we needed, they made sure we had rooms on the same floor so we could be together. When we wanted to visit together in the breakfast room later into the night, the staff checked on us and made sure we were all comfortable. Never once were we made to feel like we were being too much for them. We felt at home and were able to share family time during a very difficult period. Thank you to all the staff! You made a rough weekend so much better for my family. "

"We stayed at this Holiday Inn on our way back from a conference in Newark. This Holiday Inn looks new, is very clean and the room design is more modern than the Hilton we stayed at. It was right off the hwy and driving into town for dinner was only 10 minutes away. I didn't mind the challenge of the bed being so unusually high, but may be an issue with folks who have mobility issues."
