Honey Harbour

Navigate picturesque waterways, explore local islands and pick up insights into the fascinating history of this Georgian Bay community.

Honey Harbor is a picturesque fishing village located on the beautiful Georgian Bay. Cottages line the shore and boats of all kind bob in the water. The coastal community is a gateway to outdoor adventures, including a freshwater archipelago of more than 60 islands. Cruise across waterways, hike through pine forests and catch glimpses of local wildlife.

Charter a boat and explore nearby coves and bays. Sail, kayak or take the water ferry over to Georgian Bay Islands National Park. It sits within the Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve in the world's largest freshwater archipelago. Visit Beausoleil Island, the largest island in the chain. Hike or bike pine and maple forest trails and along sandy shores. Among the wild animals that you may see on your travels are turtles, deer, bears and the eastern massasauga rattlesnake. Relax and swim on the island’s beaches.

Stay overnight in one of the campgrounds dotted along the island's eastern and northern shores. They encompass campsites and rustic cabins.

There are more great outdoor experiences waiting for you when you return to Honey Harbor. Rent a canoe, kayak or pedal boat at Six Mile Lake Provincial Park. You can also hike its three trails. Enjoy hours of fun on the beach at Port Severn Park and Public Beach.

After your outdoor excursions, make some time to learn about the area’s history. See the wigwam and lookout tower of a replica pre-contact Huron/Ouendat village at the Huronia Museum in Midland. The museum also houses thousands of historical artifacts, including photographs and archeological relics. At Coldwater Museum in Coldwater village, learn about 19th and early 20th-century rural life. Tour the homestead that was built in the 1840s.

Honey Harbor is located just off Highway 400, southeast of the Georgian Bay area. The nearest major airport is Toronto Pearson Airport, approximately 95 miles (153 kilometers) away. The village is a wonderful spot for a vacation with lots of history, islands and waterways to discover.
