"I love the convenience of extended stay hotels because I can make my own meals instead of having to eat out or eat food from the hotel that I may not like or can't eat. However, more cons than pros this time... DON'T make your guests pay for dishes! I've stayed at extended stays that provide them for you with no problems. Stop being greedy! Also check in staff wasn't the talkative type I guess. Just get to the point and move on attitude. Would have also been nice to know at check in that your room door automatically locks you out at 10am!!! Seriously? I've never stayed anywhere that does this, even an extended stay. I had to go out of my way to get the key to work again. If I knew this prior I could have had my son stay in the room to make sure I could get back in after going to get the luggage cart! A hook on the back of the bathroom door would be extremely helpful! How can you not have something so simple? Seriously, no hairdryer either? Whether people use them or not, the less I have to pack and remember, the better. Never stayed at any hotel that didn't provide one; it's just standard! So, evidently this extended stay has had problems with people overstaying their welcome/extended stay???? So ya'll don't provide hardly ANY conveniences that your guests need while there for longer periods of time? Then DON'T BOTHER BEING AN EXTENDED STAY! It's the bare minimum here people! No reason ya'll can't keep the standards."

"The towels, bedsheets and even bed had musty and stale smells. Probably these were not cleaned and dried properly. It was not good experience. The place looked good and peaceful. Lobby and front was clean. There was enough space for parking and was included with booking. Be careful about terms like “Breakfast Available” vs “Breakfast Included” while booking room here, It’s not the same."

"Up until my last half-hour, this rating would've been a 3/5 where I stayed somewhere that was dated and not the best kept but was cheap. Then I got locked in my room. It happened as I was leaving to check out. The door handle wouldn't move, despite no lock or latch engaged. I placed 2 calls to the main desk, and with the 2nd, a maintenance man was sent to remedy the situation. He badged into the room with no trouble at all. Then he let the door shut. Suddenly we were both locked in. Ultimately, he had to bust through a screen window to badge us both out. I asked for a refund for this 2nd of my 2 night stay through the office directly and Hotels. Suburban Studios flatly refused twice. I also gave Choice Hotels a description of the incident. My primary grievance is with the nature of this incident. Every room in this property has a stove; so, every room is at a higher chance than your typical hotel room of being a site of a fire. Imagine being a small child, or someone with a mobility issue, who has a fire break out in their room only to find that their door is somehow locked on the inside. Do you expect this guest to bust through a screen and jump out a window? I deeply hope that Choice took my mention of the fire risk seriously. My lesser, secondary issue is the refund, solely because this appears to be part of a pattern of the hotel refusing to give back money over legitimate causes. See a different April '26 review on Choice for support; this behavior isn't a fluke."

La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Winston-Salem

"The only reason I’m not leaving a 5 Star review is due to the fact for several days of my week long stay, I could smell the use of marijuana. I am retired law enforcement and my step-son was lost his life because of marijuana so I do not tolerate it very well. I did NOT report it for the simple fact that house keeping was on the floor several times during the week and if anyone should have reported it, it was them. Cleaning the rooms, walking down the hall, it would have been no question what was going on. I also could not tell exactly what room it was coming from to be honest. I was on the 6th floor near the elevator. It was first thing in the morning, during the day and evening hours. Not every day, but more day’s more than not. I don’t like leaving bad reviews and usually just do not fill them out if it’s a bad review but I do think this needs to be addressed. Wasn’t happy at all and I hope you can understand."
