Medi, the chef, and his wife, Daniella, run the Inn and gave us both a warm, friendly welcome. The room was tidy and clean and we both had good night's sleeps even though the room was above the pub..I recommend Medi's Eggs Benedict which was fantastic and he also catered in the evening with great home made food - I had the best fish and chips I've had for many a year..I'd recommend the Sunday roast too which was awesome and over generous...and reasonably priced...
Next time we're in the area we'll definitely go back..
Absolutely amazing 3 night stay. Lovely village, lovely warm welcome, lovely couple who run the sun inn and they couldnt do enough for you to make sure our stay was comfortable and fantastic. Very dog friendly which was fantastic too. We had meals every night here at the sun inn as the food was fantastic. Yes limited menu, but we always found something tasty to order. They do fantastic sunday roasts too. Owners are italian, and the italian food as well as english food on the menu were super tasty along with having very reasonable prices. Breakfast plentiful too with plenty choice of options for brekkie.
Lovely beer garden at back. Lovely friendly locals to chat to too. Lots of lovely scenic walks from here out to hexham or chollerford and hadrians wall. Bedroom clean and cosy and mattress super comfy.
Would definitely recommend and we have already said we will be back.
Daniela was an incredible host, despite booking the wrong type of room she was able to offer us a double. The room was incredibly clean, the bed was one of the most comfortable we have stayed in and the breakfast was delicious. Both her and her partner were extremely attentive and friendly. We would happily stay again in a heartbeat.
I stayed 3 nights in this lovely public house (the Sun Inn, Acomb). It didn't have big town amenities, but it was fine for me as I wanted to visit and walk parts of Hadrians Wall. The couple running this enterprise had only taken it over about a month before I stayed, but I think they are doing it brilliantly. A nice atmosphere in the bar. Good choice of breakfast - which was delicious. A small menu for evening food - I tried one of the pasta dishes - again delicious. No car park, but there was on-street parking just outside and opposite, and I never had any difficulty finding a spot. Good wifi signal in my room. En-suite shower and toilet. (though believe some rooms have shared bathroom facilities). There was also tea/coffee/kettle in the room and a decent TV. Some pub related noise - but I didn't mind that and it didn't stop me going to sleep.
I liked the friendliness; the care; the helpfulness. Would happily stay there again.
