"We had difficulty when checking in, as the staff member stated repeatedly that she was unable to find our reservation. She finally did locate it after I produced a confirmation email from Hotels.com from one month ago. Said staff member did not look at me or make eye contact during our entire interaction, until she finally handed me the room keys and information. Our room was very small and, honestly, furniture, paint, etc had seen better days. The room was clean. The bathroom very small and dated with a very low ceiling. Unpleasant. The wifi was pretty bad, 2 bars. Phone calls from our room would drop and we had to go to the lobby for adequate phone service. The air conditioning would not maintain to keep the room cool at night, and despite setting the temp at 66 degrees, we woke up numerous times through the night, overly hot and sweating. The thermostat measured 72 each time and we would have to reset it at 66 to have it provide cooling air for a short time before going off. The temp would then climb again to 72. Very frustrating. We have stayed at the Doubletree multiple times in the past, but decided after this stay that we will not book again in the future."

"I have stayed at the Handlery before and like the staff and the accommodations. This stay I booked a Premier room and it was more spacious and included bathrobes which was nice. I will definitely book the Premier room when I stay again. Nice heated pool. Location downtown is convenient to all transport. And just a short walk to the Embarcadero"
