Hidden Gem

Hemingway Hostel is a hidden gem. Location, character, friendly staff and absolutely delectable food including plenty of vegan and vegetarian options, it has it all. Book this place for an unforgettable stay in the beautiful city of Heidelberg.

The hostel had comfortable beds and a good view of the river. It was quiet at night despite the restaurant below. Linens and towels provided. Many flights of steps to get to the room. Not a private bathroom as listed here. Shared the bathroom with one other room on the floor. The shower did not drain. We told the staff but it was unable to be fixed. Hemingway's Hostel was close to the transit stop and about 2km to the hbf. Shopping, dining, and the local attractions are within walking distance.

Emma (?) at the bar made moving 90kgs of baggage up and down those stairs worth it. Great location, cool atmosphere, awesome staff. Upper floors are ideal for light travellers.

Nice place, comfortable, friendly staff. Acoustics were terrible. To noisy, people talking part midnight until 2 am. High street noise.

The hotel is close to the main shopping area and just a short walk from other bars and restaurants, The hotel has a bar-restaurant on the ground floor, it has no lift, this is to be expected in an old building but I was on the 4th floor and caring my suit case all the way up the stairs left me out of breath, it has a shared bathroom but it was only shared between my room and 2 others, I never had any issues and it was very clean, the room included a kettle and a tv with english tv channels, the only down side is the hotel does not do breakfast, despite this the price was very cheap, I will stay here again

I had booked only one night for Heidelberg, as part of a longer stay in Germany. I decided not to check into the hostel until after 4:30 PM that day. I brought my luggage and had to take it up two flights of stairs. I was aware that there was no elevator. I also did not have a private bathroom, so I had to wait my turn to use it. The bathroom was clean. As I did not go anywhere from 5 PM to about 7 AM, I can't really say anything about after hours reentry. Checkout was simple, just drop the keys in a small box and then just leave the property. I wish I had booked a longer stay, so that I could explore Heidelberg a bit more.

Handy property conveniently located to old town. Room and shared bathroom were clean. It is just a room as there is no service from the bar staff downstairs or common areas to sit. Beware there are many flights of steep stairs.

Very acceptable hostel

Great if you want a 'vibe' - the bar downstairs was crammed and jolly. All rooms involve climbing at least two flights of steep stairs (think Netherlands). Comfy clean room (with TV!, but not washbasin). Sometimes had to wait for shared toilet/shower room. Picturesquely situated by the river and not far from pretty Altstadt. Quite a trek from the station.

狭い階段を荷物を持って上がらねばならず、上がると真っ暗で不安になりました。 部屋の鍵は古くてなかなか開閉出来ず(昔の鍵スタイルで)、おまけに締めても木製のドアと壁の間に隙間があり、部屋の中気が細く見えるのが不安でした。洗面台、トイレ、シャワーも共用でいちいち施錠して使用するのが(鍵がかかりにくいので余計に)煩わしかったです。 部屋には洗面台も水道もティシュも無く、唯一良いなと思ったのは窓からの眺めでした。 リピートは無いかな〜(^◇^;)、、

Die Einrichtung des Zimmers war sehr ansprechend. Ein hoher, heller Raum mit schöner, farblich frischer Ausstattung und schönem Blick auf Kastanienbäume und auf den Neckar. Störend war, dass man den Raum nicht abdunkeln kann und es morgens früh hell wurde. Das Gemeinschaftsbad ist ziemlich klein aber sauber und ordentlich. Praktisch ist, dass man zu Fuß schnell in der schönen Altsttadt ist und am Neckar.

De netheid was ruim voldoende echter bij iedere stap kraakte de vloer behoorlijk en dat gold ook voor de buren die midden in de nacht thuis kwamen en niet echt meteen gingen slapen

Die Lage ist toll, man ist mittendrin. Das Bad mussten wir mit einem 2. fremden Zimmer teilen und im 3. Stock war es sehr warm, da half auch der Ventilator wenig, den wir die ganze Nacht durchlaufen lassen mussten.

The hostel is centrally located on the edge of the Old Town. There is no elevator, so it is not handicap accessible. The toilet and bath are down a short hallway and shared with the other people staying on the hall.

Top Lage am Neckar - preiswert -

Das Personal war super freundlich und hilfsbereit! Die Lage am Neckar ist perfekt, man ist gleich zu Fuß in der Altstadt! Das Gemeinschaftsbad im Dachgeschoss ist modern und zweckmäßig! Man sollte gut zu Fuß sein, da man auch in den 4.Stock nur über eine Treppe gelangt! Auf einer schönen Terrasse kann man die Live Musik und das Essen am Abend genießen! Treffpunkt der Jugend! Leider gibt es keine Parkplätze, konnte aber mein E-Bike auf dem Schulhof abstellen!
