"Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The staff were friendly & polite and we enjoyed a good breakfast. A huge bonus is the large, free car park. The only negative is that the rooms could do with updating. We have used this hotel for several years now and some areas are looking a little tired."

"Nice room with patio doors leading to outside decking strip with chairs to enjoy the nice views. Not private as open-plan & people can walk around the outside, also there is a narrow road where a car did come around to the exit. Room did have a table top fan thank goodness as it was very hot with the sun on the room from early morning. Hair dryer didn’t have enough power, would have been hours trying to dry my hair- too hot anyway to have going for long. Shower pressure low, I doubt they can do anything about that given where the property is situated. Restaurant staff very good, SAM in particular. We were initially going to dine in the bar but there was plenty of room in the restaurant so we were offered to sit in there & have the fish & chips off the bar menu. We were disappointed in the fish - had thick batter & very little fish, my husband mentioned it to a member of staff. Within minutes SAM came & apologised profusely advising us she would get another meal straight away. We opted for the steak pie instead which the person on the next table looked to be enjoying. It was very good, SAM couldn’t apologise enough. We went to our room & a knock on the door was SAM with a bottle of red wine (the same as we had had a glass of with our meal )& 2 glasses - excellent customer service. Lady on reception was very pleasant both on arrival & at check-out. A comfortable bed & a pleasant stay."

"Quaint doesn't describe this place. It looks like it had been a coaching inn in the 1600's then, apparently, it had various uses until it became a nightclub(?) in the 70's and then a hotel/country pub/ repository for a very eclectic mix of furniture styles!! The staff were really friendly and helpful and the grounds are lovely. Breakfast was typically 'full English' fare served in a gorgeous upstairs room above the bar. All in all a pleasant overnight stay and would certainly recommend to anyone taking the ferry from Plymouth. Downside - Cornish Tea is just like any other tea-bag tea only without the flavour."

"Room was lovely and well kept but could do with more hangers and maybe a bigger fan (equipped with one small fan) as the room did get quite warm at night. The shower also didn't seem to have much hot water however felt refreshing after a warm night! The staff were really friendly and helpful , the food was great and the manor was really well decorated. The views out were lovely and we highly recommend it. Especially if you want a quiet friendly get away and only 2 mins from dartmoor zoo"
