The Shilla Seoul
5/5 Excellent
5 Star Service with a capital S!
"We have stayed at many five-star hotels around the world, but the service at The Shilla is truly in a league of its own. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and every staff member I encountered – including the valet attendants and service car drivers – spoke English to a high standard.
If I had to identify a fault, which is difficult, it would be the use of individually plastic-wrapped cups in the rooms, which are replaced daily during servicing. This seemed excessive and not particularly environmentally friendly.
Additionally, upon check-in, I was informed that the gym and indoor pool would be closed for renovations throughout the entirety of our stay. I clarified this several times, as it seemed unusual given that we had not been notified beforehand. However, I kept seeing guests dressed in gym attire in the lifts. On the fourth day, I enquired directly at the gym and was told that it had only been closed for one day. Unfortunately, due to this misinformation, we missed the opportunity to use the gym and indoor pool, which was disappointing."
