Eat out before you stay here
Too expensive for no reason. This hotel is the worst within this chain. I have stayed in many Hotel Campanile properties but this one is in serious need of refurbishing. Also you cannot boast to have a restaurant and bar only to find them shut at 5om on arrival. Clearly thats wrong information and worrying for any persons or families planning to stay here. Sadly however you offer guest the opportunity to buy alcohol from a fridge and invite them to kill themselves by drinking alcohol with no food. This makes no sense.

Dear AntonyThank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.Our restaurant is open from Monday to Friday from 18h00 until 21h30. On friday December 9th the kitchen was closed due to unforseen circumstances. We apologise for the inconvenience. This however was mentionned online on all booking platforms, for this date. We have a miniboutique available at reception which contains soft drinks, water, snacks, amenities and yes alcoholic beverages. This is offered at the hotel because there are no minibars in the rooms. Kind regards,

Staff were really nice and very helpful. Helped sort out a takeaway as the restaurant was closed the evening of my arrival. Would thoroughly recommend, especially if going to see the local football team.. oh and the beer is good too (tripel karmeliet especially). A good base for a trip to Gent

The worst experience, never staid
I should pay twice for one stay. I paid when I book the hotel and paid at the property. It was duplicated payment. But they never refunded.

Goodday sir,What a shame to recieve this low score and this angry review. As stated multiple times before, we have never recieved the money you paid online to Hotels.com. We have checked everywhere and cannot find your booking on Expedia, even if we click on your account now to review the reservation, the site states that there is a problem and it can not find said reservation. We did have your name in our system, which is why we were able to check you in. We have also said this to you in many mails before this review.So maybe there was a problem on their side because the money never came through to our hotel. If you wish to retrieve the money spent on Hotels.com you can contact them so that they can refund you. We can not refund you because we have never seen the money you paid online. As already informed you, we are more than willing to help you with this matter, however you have to contact the booking agency where you made the reservation from. Kind regards

Loved the walk in shower and separate toilet. The room was very comfortable. The evening meal with robot service was excellent. The choice at breakfast was outstanding. Would recommend this hotel and if we travel that way again we would definitely stay there.

Rooms look very poor from the outside, yet are surprising comfortable inside, if small. Don’t trust the cleaners, things do go missing, especially from suitcases. Restaurant has only a limited menu but the food is very good and the staff friendly Try to stay to the front of the accommodation block as there is a noisy industrial unit to the rear that works throughout the night. Don’t open the windows unless you have good bug spray, the mosquitoes will eat you alive!

Great for a stopover visiting Ghent. We had a motor home and couldn’t find a convenient campsite so chose this hotel for a night. Staff very helpful and pleasant. Breakfast good. Reasonable rates. Quick Uber into the city.

In a very busy location (in terms of traffic and noise). Hotel full of Eastern European workers who sit outside rooms smoking, drinking and playing music into the late night. Leaving all their rubbish outside. Very intimidating going to the room walking through them - felt like a prison. Next to a noisy factory that drones on all night. Room small and basic and dirty cloth left in the bathroom. Breakfast was good. Would not choose to stay again

Standard stay, problems with the key
The hotel was standard, like the other campanile hotels, but our entrance card got problems 2 days in a row and we couldn't enter the room. One day, it was after 11 pm so we needed to call the hotels number. Luckily one of the employees was sleeping in a room and could help us in 5 minutes. The day after, we came back at 6 pm and the card wasn't working again, and the reception was already closed, for some reasons I don't know. Again, the same employee helped us. I was nice to get the help almost immediately but it would be nicer to write some signs by the entrance of the reception with emergency numbers and opening hours of the reception.

No frills accommodation within easy reach of the centre of Ghent. Easy access to main routes. There is a bus stop very close to the hotel and you can get a bus into the centre of town. It was a 50 minute walk back from town to the hotel. There is a restaurant but we did not use it.

With the exception of the owner, the staff were friendly and attentive. However, the food is overpriced, rooms and weirdly hot with no a/c, and wireless is terrible. Only saving grace is the parking.

My stay in Ghent
The hotel is about 15 mins from the city centre. The 1st room we were given had no light in the bathroom and the hairdrier didn't work. We were moved to another room in which there was only 1 set of towels for 2 people. The bath towel was like a rag and dirty. The staff were friendly and helpful and dealt with our complaints quickly.

Great place to stay
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The area is on a busy street but was very quiet. We were very close to Ghent and drove into the city for a visit, although you can ride public transportation if you need it. We had a late dinner that was delicious. Checkin and out was a breeze and the staff answered all of our tourist questions.

Great that I had a ground floor room and could wheel my bike straight into my room (was cycle touring). Room pretty basic, but good it had BBC1 and BBC2.

The hotel was a convenient and cost-effective venue for a two-night stay while I attended a conference at the Ghelamco Arena. The rooms are quite basic but have all the facilities that you need for a short stay. It is also conveniently served by direct buses from the train station and city centre, which stop about one minute's walk from the reception building. The only negatives are that while it appears to be very close to the stadium, the four minute walking route advertised by Google isn't accessible if there isn't a football match taking place, unless you're lucky enough to find the perimeter gates open, so allow for a 10 minute walk to the side of the stadium with the Albert Heijn supermarket (very convenient for meals) or another couple of minutes for access to the main reception. My room was on the back of the accommodation block, which was quite dark and narrow to access at night, but it's generally a very quiet area so I didn't feel unsafe. It's worth noting that the hotel is surrounded by factories on two sides and the noise from those buildings starts to get quite noisy from 6am-7am. I found this quite useful to make sure I was up in time for my work, but those wanting to sleep in longer might want to request a room overlooking the car park for a quieter night's stay.
