The staff was amazing! Some of them spoke a bit of English but all of them were extremely nice & wanted to help. I can't say enough good things about them.
When we arrived, it was about 9:30 pm. The hotel is old so expect some dated facilities and furniture. The front desk clerk checked us in, and then closed the front desk so he could show us around the hotel as he escorted us to our room. Before he unlocked the door, he took us to the door at the end of the hall to show us Mt Fuji. Unfortunately, it was dark, but we could see the lights at the Fuji-Subaru 5th Station halfway up the mountain. He took us back to our rooms, unlocked the doors for us, turned on the lights, & proceeded to explain where things were in the room. He demonstrated how to use the AC because the remote control is written in Japanese. He went back to the front desk and was there when we had to ask for different pillows. My husband is allergic to feathers. Even though the hotel wasn't prepared for that scenario, the front desk clerk found some pillows that worked fine.
We stayed in a western-style room. The room was large enough for the four of us to get together to make plans for the next day. The rooms were hot when we arrived because the AC wasn't on, but the rooms quickly cooled off. The bathrooms are a bit smaller than the hotel in Tokyo where we stayed, but the beds were softer.
We had a great time! The view of the lake was great! I'd write more but I ran out of room!
