"I hate leaving things like this but I think everyone would agree with me here when I say this. I pulled up in the car park and decided I would book a night there and then as it was in a gorgeous setting and a lovely day. Anyway as I was 2 hours away from Check in time I went for a walk, I then got a call from my mams care home saying she had taken a tumble and could I come straight away. This was at 2.15pm ( 15 mins past check in time) but I was still out on my walk and had not checked in. I went straight to the holly hill inn and explained my situation, I simply asked because I had booked through hotels.com and had not checked in yet if I could simply move my booking to another night maybe tomorrow and come back and I was told no! I explained again and said I am not asking for a refund but simply to switch the night stay for another so I wouldn’t lose out. To be told no! I spent over £100 for nothing and I really don’t understand why they wouldn’t just let me switch the night ( obviously like for like, so not a weekend) as I had not even got the key and entered the room! Not how I would treat my customers this much I know! "

"We stayed In the Den S/c apartment and it was great for 2 days for 2 of us. Well equipped, clean and modern. On arrival we found a jug of milk in the fridge, tea and coffee and home made cake. The owner popped round to say hello and check we had everything we needed . Excellent stay."

"Very cosy house. Perfect for three adults on a walking holiday. Lovely hot shower. Well equipped kitchen. Perfect location for many lovely walks. Shame about the soft mattresses in the twin room. Otherwise faultless. "

"The room was absolutely filthy - even the kettle was dirty. The bathroom had black mould in it and there was mould / damp above the bed. The window didn't open so we couldn't even air the room. I dropped some clothing on the floor and when I picked it up it was covered in dust / dirt and small curly hairs... I know the room was cheap - the furniture was all very old and dated which is fine but the very least I expect from a hotel room is for it to be clean. The breakfast was the only redeeming feature - the breakfast was good and the breakfast chef was lovely. "

"Lovely big room, comfortable bed, friendly welcoming staff! Only downside the room was overlooking the market square which made it noisy after pubs closed! Overall pleasant stopover! Will hopefully spend more time exploring Richmond next visit!"
