The room was clean and pleasant, but the bed was too high for me and I had difficulty in getting in to it. The shower bathroom was clean and plenty of towels. The hotel was in the main street on the Market Square but there was no noise from outside. Breakfast was only continental although plenty of food available. The younger staff were excellent, pleasant and helpful, but there was an older man on duty one evening and he was more surly. Otherwise it was comfortable and clean, and central for what I wanted.

Apparently the management had very recently taken over the tenancy which according to the manager was left in a dilapidated state. There were cheap air fresheners all over the establishment. We asked them to be removed, but the smell was impregnated and we had to have the windows open the whole time, which was not great as the heating did not work and a small fan heater was supplied and was totally inefficient. We were asked what time would we like breakfast and when we went down the place was in darkness. We and other guest waited almost an hour when we had to leave. I have never ever had this experience before. I had some health problems as did a collegue as we both had water from the tap. Which may not have been related to the Black Swan
