"The Auberge de l’Abbatiale is a wonderful small family run hotel with excellent accommodation in a historic and very interesting building. Very friendly owner and staff. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious. Thoroughly recommended as a stop off point while travelling through France as it is located in a picturesque historic village fairly close to an exit on the A31 (13 km away). Half way between Calais and the south of France."

"PropriĂ©tĂ© bien situĂ©e pour faire un arrĂȘt sur le canal. Il n’y a cependant rien Ă  faire Ă  proximitĂ© (1 seul restaurant mais fermĂ© lors de notre passage) et rien Ă  visiter en particulier. Le site du bord du canal est trĂšs reposant. Les chambres sont propres, sans confort particulier (pas d’air conditionnĂ© ni centralisateur). "When I arrived at this property the owner finally answered the door, she said she had no knowledge of my booking. Finally I had to email her a copy of my confirmation. This wasn't made any easier by her statement that "she spoke no English" - the website clearly states multilingual staff. (In fact it later became clear she did speak English). The 'living-room' is actually set out as a shop and did not feel welcoming - I was not invited to use it anyway. The only restaurant in Salives was unable...

"L'accueil a Ă©tĂ© extrĂȘmement chaleureux, de la part de Guillaume et NĂ©mo mais aussi par l'impression 'cosy' dĂšs qu'on entre dans leur maison qui Ă©tait ce soir lĂ  baignĂ©e dans un Ă©pais brouillard de novembre. La cheminĂ©e dispensait une chaleur bienvenue aprĂšs tous ces kilomĂštres et un peu de retard dĂ» Ă  un problĂšme d'huile moteur... Guillaume nous a attendus et reçus avec beaucoup de gentillesse et nous l'en remercions encore. Et cerise sur le gĂąteau, il enseigne le golf dans un club tout proche....
