"The Gadsden Hotel in Douglas is certainly one of the nicest places I have ever stayed in. Founded in 1907, it has room numbers hand-carved into its doors, a spacious lobby with polished stone pillars and stairs, a stunning stained large glass window with a landscape theme inspired by the Sonoran desert, misters that subtlely pump sweet spice scents into the air, and spacious rooms and public areas. If you are ever staying overnight in this border town, I definitely recommend a stay at this gem of a hotel. The staff is great, too: when I expressed a concern about my aging mother navigating the large polished stone stairs, fearing that could cause a fall that could seriously injure her, they readily offered to work the manual elevator for her (there are no rooms on the ground floor, here) whenever I asked. Really liked it here!"
