This hotel was a great stay! the room was comfortable, clean, and the staff was so nice! We did not eat at the restaurant but the food smelled delicious! If you are going to Cartago this is the place to stay!

Super cute hotel , you park right in front of your door in a little courtyard in the back . The beds were good , great water pressure. Only negative I would say would be the light that gets in early in the morning front to the top of the font door from the window . Otherwise very nice staff and place for the price close to a supermarket and restaurants

Property is great and comfortable Rooms do have a very small tv with barely any channel choices. Otherwise place is clean and friendly.

Very good value for the price. Wonderful staff.
Very good value. Hotel is in the process of undergoing renovations but we were put on the second floor in a room that had already been renovated. The restaurant was welcoming and the food was very good. The breakfast was included and we had our choice of many options. All staff were helpful. My husband had left his kindle in the room and the front desk staff was very excited when we returned later in the day so they could return it to us. Only negative is that it is on a busy road and traffic noise can be heard throughout the night.

Nice place to experience the cartigo community to be among the locals. Unfortunately, the motel is directly on the highway, which means non-stop road noise. Large trucks, fast cars and barking dogs rule the night. Avoid rooms at this motel near the road if you wish to have a peaceful nights sleep.

Clean Rooms Great Food and Service
The rooms are simple but are very clean, and the beds are comfortable. Two small issues are that there can be light coming in from the exterior hallway into the window above the door to the room, and due to the proximity to the highway, sound also tends to find its way in from the road. To get the best sleep here, I would recommend earplugs. Pay close attention to when the restaurant is open, the food and service there are fantastic!

Convenient Roadside Hotel
This is a roadside hotel on the Panamerican Highway. It is a convenient place to stay while in the Cartago area for a night or two. The rooms are somewhat dated in need of some maintenance, and perhaps new beds, although not uncomfortable. The interior covered parking area is great during the rainy season. The restaurant has very good food and the included breakfast is a nice bonus with great coffee. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I have stayed here often and will return when I need to stay in the area for a day or two.

Nice staff, but got locked out of parking area after leaving and coming back... nobody around to open gate. Luckily found a man gate to get into compound and to my room. Walls are paper-thin, so no quiet at night.

En una semana y media me hospede 3 veces en diferentes días. Cada vez en la recepción fueron muy amables y serviciales, siempre atentos a las necesidades. En un día tuvimos problemas con el internet y con solo una llamada al servicio a recepción lo arreglaron rápido. Excelente servicio y atención. Realmente se preocupan por el turista.

Dangerously slippery floor tile and Noisy
Floor tile to slippery. Beds slides on slippery floor. Metal shop just outside the sliding door, very noisy from 5am 6 days a week. Shower water pressure and heat is good, drainage is not. Stand in 2 inches of water while showering. Cars entering and leaving security gate must honk horn to alert guatd adding to the already noisy environment. Busses passing beneath the windows, trucks with loud engine brake constantly passing out front. Slippery floor tiles need rugs and very noisy.

Excellent Pet Friendly Hotel
This is a wonderful pet friendly hotel. We stayed here as my dog was having surgery in Cartago. The staff went above and beyond to be helpful, the breakfast was always good and the security guard was wonderful. We would definitely stay again!

Very comfortable hotel with spacious room. We had superb gourmet dinner in restaurant that was reasonably priced. Included typical breakfast buffet was great way to start the day. Location just out of town was convenient for us just on the highway. Supermarket was nearby.

Needs New Mattresses
This hotel has a very friendly and helpful staff. We were very pleased with the restaurant. Some of the rooms here have mini kitchens, which can be very convenient. They all have coffee makers. The mattress in our bed was our only real complaint, as it was old and not very comfortable. The room itself was very adequate, and clean. I would have given a higher rating had the bed been more comfortable, which in my opinion is the MOST important point of any hotel!

Nice hotel conveniently located close to Cartago
Room was very clean, the breakfast (included) was excellent every day. Our room curtains were not padded and the early sunshine made the room way too bright. The lavatory had a humidity smell Overall, we had a great stay at El Guarco!!

Really enjoyed our meals both breakfast and evening meal. The staff went out of their way to welcome us - even treating us to dessert! The room was very comfortable and a pleasant ending to a difficult commute from the airport to Cartago. We were here for a wedding and glad we stayed at the hotel.
