If traveling alone, DO NOT leave your valuables on the beach while you swim (didn't happen to me, but the danger of losing them is imminent, see for yourself) Take your cash/card, place in waterproof bag that can fit in the pocket of your swim trunks. If no pocket, leave in hotel.
