This is a difficult review to write because there is a lot to like about this ery attractive hotel. However, the room design needs a re-think. I stayed in a Standard room (16 sqm). I like the attention paid to the appearance of the hotel generally - the lighting, the art, the patterns/colours, the wall coverings, fittings, etc. Perhaps a little too busy for some peoples' taste but clearly a lot of time/money had been spent. Where it really falls down for me is the impracticality of the room. I had a carry-on case and still there was not enough floor space to be able to lay it down and unpack things. With a larger, checked in case, it would have been been even worse. The drawer unit is full of luxurious touches, but I don't think these should be prioritised over the practical necessity of unpacking a case, which virtually everybody will need to do. A lot of space is taken up with a generous mini bar selection, snack selection, cocktail shaker (!?) etc. These things would be great in a larger room. A photo shows that I couldn't even open the drawers fully with the stools in their positions.
The staff were all great. There was no safe in the room which I was surprised about. The reception offered to lock things in their safe for me - passport in my case. However, I was not given any kind of paperwork/receipt. I felt quite uneasy about this and frankly I think it leaves both the hotel and guests vulnerable in a dispute, esp if cash is involved.
