two night stay in July 2019

When we arrived, the staff did not seem to know of our booking and we had to show the confirmation email from hotels.com to evidence the booking. Then they showed us to three different rooms, the first two not being at all what we’d booked so we rejected them - the third was closest so by this point we just took the room. Then they weren’t sure how much to charge us so again we had to refer to the confirmation email. None of this was particularly disappointing, but it was a little unnerving to start off our stay. Our room was generally fine, although we did encounter a lot of insects - a large millipede on the floor, a beetle IN one of the beds, lots of ants in the bathroom, and various other flies and insects. The location was ok, given that Uvita is quite a small place - but future guests should be aware that it is a 5-10 minute walk along the edge of a main road (no pavement and no street lights) to the nearest shops/restaurants. We also found it difficult to communicate with staff who spoke little English.

Do not book with this hostel!!!!! They make excuses for over booking their rooms then refused to refund the funds!!! My worst hostel experience in Costa Rica!!!!!!

I loved my stay at U kinca. This hostel is clean! Considerate! Has a wonderful patio to hang in a hammock , work , relax , socialize.. The staff is wonderful and works hard to keep the amenities clean and welcoming for all. Paul went out of his way to help me and other guests through the stressors of travel , which is very much appreciated. 🙏 Would stay again , and would fully reccomend!
