The Black Forest house(German: Schwarzwaldhaus) is a byre-dwelling that is found mainly in the central and southern parts of the Black Forest in southwestern Germany. It is characterised externally by a long hipped or half-hipped roof that descends to the height of the ground floor. This type of dwelling is suited to the conditions of the Black Forest: hillside locations, broad tracks, high levels of snowfall and heavy wind loading. "This probably our worst stay in a hotel ever! Thankfully it was only one night. The place is next to a lorry carpark and gets quite noisy with engines running all night. Beds are uncomfortable with very very questionable sheets. Towels - would not use them to mop the floor with them. No aircon of course. There was a fan but it wasn’t working. Can’t keep the windows open because of lorries running outside. The neighbour opposite our room was listening to some music on his phone but it was like...

"We had such a lovely, warm welcome and the staff could not be more helpful. Inside, the hotel is clean and welcoming. The hotel is very conveniently positioned and about 10 or 15 minutes to the tram stop into Basel. The breakfast was absolutely first class - plenty of options and the rooms were great."

"Easy if you are traveling with car, gas station next to hotel best prices. There is public transportation but on Saturday and Sunday no way. We just use parking in Basel. Hotel is good and also the breakfast. "
