"The Hilton Fiji is a beautiful property and, overall, has a lot to offer. There's multiple pools and dining options, and its spread out, it never feeling overcrowded. We had a 1 br unit with kitchen, laundry and ocean view. Unfortunately, what should have been a relaxing and special stay to celebrate a milestone birthday was significantly affected by an issue with our room.
Our room was part of an adjoining-room configuration. For the first three nights of our seven-night stay, the adjoining room was unoccupied, so we were unaware of the problem. On the fourth day, guests checked into the room next door. That evening, we discovered, after contacting reception, that the hot-water system servicing both rooms is located inside the laundry cupboard in our room.Every time the guests next door used hot water, the burner in our cupboard would switch on. The noise was incredibly loud — comparable to a 747 taking off — and was particularly disruptive during the night, well into the early hours of the morning, resulting in repeated disturbances and significantly disrupted sleep. We raised the issue with the duty manager, who said that, due to the hotel being at full capacity, we couldn't be moved to a new room. We don't feel that a $400 room credit is sufficient compensation for three nights of severely disturbed sleep, particularly given that we had paid for a five-star experience, and would appreciate Hilton reconsidering this in light of the significant impact this had on our stay."
