"The Leonardo hotel in Southampton is decent value for money. The room is spacious, and the staff simply amazing. Little if any noise gets in from outside so you’ll have a great night sleep, and the breakfast is very good for this price bracket. However the location is a bit… weird. If you’ve stepped off the airport bus (itself great value) at Giddy Bridge and approach the hotel it’s just… awkward to get into. Although there are traffic lights right there, you have to walk another block to the next set of lights to be able to cross to the hotel… and if you come from another direction there’s a fair chance you’ll have the same problem because it’s as if it, and it’s partner building, were built in the middle of a roundabout (or should that be speedtrack given the pace the drivers go?) The rooms are also a bit tired. The carpet in my room at the bed leg was completely worn through, and the shower head was not pleasant, I would expect a rainfall one at this price point. But overall a pleasant enough place for a few days."

"Lovely querky room and great shower. The staff as always were friendly and helpful. Reception, bar staff and cleaners all to be thanked. Amazing choice at breakfast and our evening meal was fabulous and filling."

"Clean room, very friendly staff, quiet rooms, couch and desk chair were very comfortable, had a reliable safe and mini fridge that held all our items needing refrigeration overnight. A great little stay for us before heading up to see the coastal causeway. It was across the street from the train station so very convenient for travellers such as ourselves. "

"Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, and it's a nice hotel but far too warm to sleep. The first room I was given was 25 degrees when I opened the door. The staff helpfully moved me to a room on the other side which was cooler, but I struggled to sleep later as the temperature hovered around 21-22 degrees. The air conditioning is apparently 'centrally controlled' and just did not blow cool air at all."

"The staff were friendly and very welcoming. The room was really clean and well equipped. Breakfast was busy and some items were in short supply...but this was due to a late delivery. The staff were very apologetic about this. Gluten free bread was provided for us...all done with a smile! The hotel was easy to find and within easy reach of Southampton port...we definitely stay here again."

"A really comfortable stay. Nice decor, themed around the River Test, with historical touches in a modern, clean setting. Loads of very easy (free) parking. About 10 minutes walk into the centre of Romsey. The hotel is just off a fairly busy road, but with double/triple glazing it isn't too bad, and they provide complementary earplugs should you need. Comfy beds, nice staff and excellent breakfast. Highly recommended"
