Cedar Creek Hotel Wausau - Rothschild

10/10 Excellent

"The only gripe I have is the breakfast room was teeny tiny, other than that, a great stay with a ton of charm!"

Best Western Plus Wausau/Rothschild Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"I’ve stayed at this location twice and had all good experience all around. The inside is outdated but stays and smells clean constantly. The staff is very friendly. I can’t remember which room I stayed in exactly but I had a king size bed and a pullout couch. Two separate rooms living area had an AC but the king bedroom did not so it was a little stuffy. So I would highly recommend if they would put AC in each room, but other than that, it was comfortable."

8/10 Good

"This hotel was booked while I was in town for a convention. Upon check in there was no one at the front desk but I am presuming there is a limited amount of staff working at times. After a brief wait I was able to make contact with the front desk personnel and check in was very fast and easy. The pool is still closed as of 10/2026 by order of the county and has been closed since 2024. I will say that there is evidence that they are working on the pool area with how it looks now compared to the pictures on line. It was a slim chance that I would have been able to use it so this was not a deal breaker. The breakfast buffet was sufficient. They had a decent range of options for a continental breakfast and comparable to other hotels I have stayed at. The inside of the property looked and smelled clean to me. The bed was very comfortable with clean sheets and no evidence of any issues with the beds. There are some maintenance issues that could be addressed. The additional lock in my room was broken and not functioning. The bathroom mirror had been removed as well as the hairdryer with holes noted in the walls. A few areas of paint touch up may be in order. I had a problem with the tv in the room and getting the remote to work. I had my tablet with tv service so I didn’t see this as a major problem so I did not address it with the staff. Overall the hotel was okay based on price and experience. I travel to the area at least once a year and would not hesitate to book here again."
