Everything was beautiful and peaceful. The bed was comfortable and the shower and soaking tub were so nice. The grounds were gorgeous. Breakfast buffet at Dixie cafe was delicious and the view out the huge windows enjoyable. The museum was great. Dinner at the Carriage House was also special. People were friendly and helpful. No crowds, quiet and serene.
We celebrated our anniversary at this lovely property. It was a very enjoyable experience. The grounds are beautiful. Our experience in Latil’s Landing restaurant was divine .
Our second visit to Houmas house was fabulous. We spent the night and had a fabulous dinner at the Carriage House. The food is excellent. The grounds were decorated beautifully for Christmas. It is a great place to spend time with friends. Love it!
The Inn is a great place and we thought it looked lovely on the website -- but it exceeded all our expectations when we actually stayed: beautiful decor, fantastic setting, spotlessly clean and the food on site is great too. To say nothing of the house tour, bar, friendly and helpful people working there... a really fantastic place to stay
What a treat! This is a place you come back to and just enjoy the grounds. Rooms are spacious and clean with beautiful landscaping surrounding and a quick walk to the on-site restaurants, gardens, and museums. Free breakfast and no pet fees were a huge plus! Would recommend trying to stay in a room that is not on River Rd if street noise bothers you. The road is quite busy and you can hear vehicles driving by at all hours.
The grounds are stunning. The staff is very very friendly. The food was amazing. The only reason I gave it four stars was because there was zero water pressure in our room. The walls were thin and we could hear quite a bit from our neighbors. Other than that, we couldn’t have been happier.
The property in the gardens were breathtaking. Rooms were very nicely appointed and clean. The breakfast was awesome, and the service and staff was very accommodating. One area for improvement is the Wi-Fi. It was absolutely terrible.
grounds are beautiful. The staff are very helpful, and the history is amazing.
I did not like the fact that they seem to have erased the fact of servants and slaves on the plantation.
What a beautiful location and accomodations were extremely nice. Not too fond of the swarms of mosquitos but i grew up in Louisiana and they are to be expected. Staff was very helpful and the complimentary breakfast was awesome. The best creamy grits ive ever had!
I LOVE HOUMAS house it’s so beautiful & breathtaking the staff & tourist are so FRIENDLY !!!! Plus the Food is DELICIOUS, free Breakfast was awesome the BEST !!! Then the carriage house was & always is DELICIOUS & FANCY !!! The Boutique or Gift Shop has the MOST UNIQUE & amazing gifts plus the WAX MUSEUM is INCREDIBLE & VERY INTERESTING the history is the most informative & enjoyable stuff to read about & also look at we loved OUR stay & we will DEFINITELY GO BACK & STAY again !!!
The garden and house are beautiful, although there are signs of neglect associated with the facilities. Stayed in unit 1A. The inside was very clean and nicely furnished. Issue is units 1A to 3A and 2A to 3A front river road and the traffic is very very loud during the day and night. Tried to get a room change but they had no units available. Couple other items; Requested a lift to dinner (service provided to pick you up at your room and take you to their restaurant) never showed up (they said he was busy). Although the food was very good, service at the Carriage House was poor (did not seem to care).
The property is beautiful and unique. The Inn was great as were the restaurants. The entire ambience is relaxing and special. Some of the processes could use improvement such as Check In - why have to call ahead and then be asked "you're coming tonight? Before 8??" Not exactly a warm welcome first impression. Upon arrival, where is check in anyway?? Dark, no sign as to check in location. Dark walk to the Inn. Dinner reservations made far in advance. Was stopped and questioned in an unfriendly manner as we walked to restaurant as to whether we had reservations like we were trespassing - said it was to "let the restaurant know we were coming" Got to restaurant - were asked if we had reservations. So all that gestapo business still didn't inform the restaurant we were walking over. Same attitude with home tour. Booked a specific date and time 10 days ahead. Then were told we "might not be able to go on the tour as the line had formed". What??? we milled around 10 min ahead of tour time. People walked up that day and then you want to boot us? No good instruction on tour process. (House tour should be included in an Inn stay). Point is - we felt talked to like kindergartens where the "processes" were concerned. These items are easily remedied with better training of staff in Client Services. Otherwise, a wonderful stay! Love the animals!
Clean room, excellent dining options. Very had working furry employees. Private patio not so private. Bring ear plugs if affexted by barge horn or train noise
