"The original plan was to get a hotel near a night market, but this was changed for one that was more upscale further away from a night market hotspot. (It is was hoped to be a modest version of luxury as we are middle class and can't quite afford the real thing.)
The hotel is clean and impressive. There is cool modern art in the hotel and in the immediate area around the hotel. In fact, the surprise might have been that the area around has a nice variety of shops and restaurants, in what I feared might have been a walking desert - instead, the area is wonderful and the food options are plenty.
The location is only a 12-minute walk from an MRT station, which is either one stop from the Brown Line that takes you to Taipei Zoo, or 2 stops to the Red Line, which will take you all the way to Tamsui - so it ended up being pretty convenient.
Breakfast was ok, but maybe slightly overpriced for what was offered. Not that the options were poor. The breakfast options were good...just that we've had better for slightly less. (However, by no means did we feel ripped off by the breakfast - it was not a bad breakfast). One great thing about the breakfast is the time it runs.. it goes until 10. That extra 30 to 60 mins was nice to take advantage of."
