"Excellent location in centre of Buxton and helpfulness of staff. Very good breakfast and good value for money overall. Ancient and very temperamental lift meant that most users did not understand its quirks, and so it was often left on the wrong floor. This would cause problems for those having difficulty with stairs. Also modern bathroom had inadequate grab handles in the shower."

"We stayed here for a weekend trip to Alton Towers after travelling up from the south of England. We paid £36 per room for three rooms, and for that price we were happy with what we got. We were given rooms in the courtyard, which was really convenient as we could park directly outside our doors. The beds were clean and comfortable, which is the most important thing for us. That said, the rooms are looking quite tired. The walls could do with a fresh coat of paint, all of the baths were heavily marked, and overall the rooms would really benefit from a refurbishment. At £36 a room, we accepted that you get what you pay for. We recently looked at booking again for a couple of weeks’ time and were surprised to see the price has almost doubled. Unfortunately, at the new price, we just don’t feel the rooms offer good value for money in their current condition. It’s a shame, as we would have happily returned if the pricing had remained more in line with what the accommodation offers."

"Pleasant enough room and very clean. Could have done with a plug socket near to the full length mirror to do my hair. By sheer chance Hubbie had an extension lead in the boot of the car....otherwise I would have been stuck! Also, the table in the room was tiny, and had the hot drinks equipment on it so there was nowhere to put things like keys, make up etc. I would definitely suggest something a bit bigger...the room was plenty big enough. All in all though, we slept fine and a plus was being open to open a window which you can't in many hotels these days."
