Burgundy in France is my favourite wine region. Split geographically from Chablis in the North, Côte d'Or and Cote de Chalonnais centrally, and Beaujolais in the South, the range of wines made from single grape varieties is amazing. Pinot Noir or Gamay for red, Chardonnay or Aligote for white (Though a little Sauvignon Blanc in St Bris near Chablis.) The world's most expensive wine is made here, if you really want to know its a Vosne-Romanee, Richebourg Grand Cru, Henri Jayer, selling at an average of $15,195 across all vintages, per bottle. Yes, per BOTTLE!
Driving around this region is a pure delight to wine and food lovers, but it's landscape and architecture is a joy too. Everywhere there are large and small domains like this one on the main road between Nuits St George and Beaune, surrounded by vines and woodland. The fields of vines are small, parcels as they are known, a result of France's inheritance system going back to mediaeval times with original larger fields maybe being carved up between several brothers. So, if you visit France and need to visit one more place other than Paris, then make it Burgundy!

"We arrived at 9pm via train so was such a welcome sight to see the hotel sign from our train platform ! Directly connected to the station, this hotel is clean and modern. Only a short walk to the old town, I would totally recommend this spot particularly if you are travelling via train (I much prefer a walk to and from town without my luggage!). Staff were lovely as well. "

"Upon checking in we were welcomed by a charming receptionist. They even took our request as room location into consideration and was done as expected. Room wise excellent bed, well lit bathroom and with all the amenities as expected with Holiday Inn Express. We had a nice and complete breakfast. Free car park is too an added bonus. We are very happy."

"This is a high quality hotel right on the edge of the beautiful old town area of Dijon. We walked from the train station (about 8 mins) and then were able to walk to all the shops, restaurants and museums. Location was just great. Restaurant and bar options were great. The only drawback was that they were late having our room available. Otherwise perfect."

"We arrived in time for dinner, enjoyed a delicious meal, husband is a fussy eater upon which they followed his instructions and so had a delicious meal too. Cost of meal was very reasonable. Paid for breakfast when booking the room, worth the extra. Cooked, continental and cereals all on offer. Nice friendly atmosphere, English speaking staff and lots of parking. Highly recommend this hotel, ♥️"
