Perfect stay with the perfect amount of space. We have family nearby and this was a perfect location and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The breakfast hamper was a great plus! We will be booking again in the future.

My 3rd stay here when working away from home. Lovely furbished rooms with comfy beds and great complimentary breakfast basket. Love staying here, will be back on my next visit south.

Beautiful room with high quality fixtures & fittings. Well stocked breakfast basket and refrigerator stocked with milk, juice, water and yoghurt and fruit. Amazing.

It was an ideal location for visits to local heritage sites and for Colchester. Room clean and comfortable, although a small chair would have been helpful for eating breakfast. Staff very pleasant. Used town car park, free on Sunday and left before charges started at 8am on Monday. Would book again if need to re-visit area. Thanks

Well I must say, I have stayed in hundreds of hotels across the uk and Europe and the way this hotel handed my booking from start to finish was beyond exceptional, from tending to my requests to the little hotel rooms gifts, I was really set back and have to be review this hotel as one of the best I have ever stayed in for the price I paid To the girls working there who made sure my stay was pleasant, thank you for making it a great stay!

Really lovely property for an out of town stay or if attending an event at Braxted Park Estate. We really enjoyed the breakfast basket provided, such a good idea for when the restaurant downstairs is not open yet. The food at the restaurant was very delicious, everyone enjoyed their meals. The ingredients are locally sourced. The hotel is family friendly but they do not have a travel cot so you would need to provide your own. Somethjng else to note is the ceilings are quite low so would be a bit difficult for anyone 6foot or taller.

Easy parking in public car park across the road which is only chargeable between 0800 and 18:00 loads of spaces. Loved the breakfast hamper idea price was very reasonable and area is very quiet in evening and through till morning. Will definitely stay again

Superb and so comfy

Easily one of the most comfortable, clean and user friendly rooms i have stayed in over the years. You never quite know what you are going to get in the smaller independant places but this was just great. So much so i had to take time to review and say thank you. PS The breakfast hamper was super :)

Lovely Cosy Set Up

Really enjoyed my stay here as a solo business traveller over 3 nights. It is quirky and small but really cosy and warm, very clean and comfortable. Felt like a home away from home. Menu and food was good in the brasserie. The little extra touches; breakfast hamper and chocolates, ample fresh juice and milk in the fridge were really lovely and make they stay even nicer.

Here's a glowing review: I had an absolutely delightful stay at this hotel! The staff were incredibly friendly, responsive, and went out of their way to accommodate my very late check-in, which made my arrival stress-free. I was pleasantly surprised by the complimentary breakfast basket—such a thoughtful touch—and the mini fridge stocked with goodies was a fantastic bonus. Arriving on a Wednesday night, I woke up to a charming little market on Thursday morning—it was such a lovely addition to my stay! And honestly, I didn’t even mind the cheeky clock chiming on the hour; it added a bit of character to the experience. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a warm, welcoming, and unique experience! A gem of a place!

lovely rooms with excellent food and service

Lovely, modern rooms in an old building so expect slightly uneven floors. Nice touches like mints and biscuits. The breakfast hamper was ample. Bathroom a little tight but the shower was good with excellent toiletries. The food and service in the restaurant was excellent. Hope to return as Coggleshall has a lot of history.

Impressive little hotel.

Was beautifully clean - which is quite important to me, so I was impressed. The bed was very comfortable and the snacks and small breakfast in the room was a lovely touch. Lady who greeted my partner was very pleasant and helpful. Only one downfall if you are a light sleeper is that the hotel is opposite a clocktower which chimes on the hour, every hour. Didn’t affect me as I slept through, but it woke my partner every hour! Wouldn’t stop us staying there again though as everything else was superb!

Had a lovely few nights here in Oct 24. Very comfy room, easy check in and lovely location. A few comments: Breakfast - there is a lovely breakfast basket in the room with plates, bowls and cutlery. It has porridge, muesli & muffins as well as fruit, milk and yogurt in the fridge. There’s a dining table downstairs if you want somewhere to sit and eat. Parking - the side of the road with the hotel on has 24-7 free parking, the other side you need to be out by 8am. There is a car park up the road but I didn’t feel comfortable leaving the car there. We managed to get a spot right next to the hotel every day as people move in & out fairly frequently. Bathrooms - awesome power in the showers!! They are lovely! Just be careful as it was so powerful the water crept over the edge of the cubicle very easily!! Lovely big fluffy towels and beautifully heated on the towel rail too.
