"Room was clean and comfortable but TV wouldn't connect to the wifi - night staff tried to help and even reset the system, but it was still the same the next day. We were also rudely awoken early in the morning by 2 dogs in the room next door that had obviously been left while their owners had gone to breakfast. REALLY NOT good and not what you'd expect from this type of hotel. Breakfast was good but coffee wasn't great - partner had to send his cafetiere back as is tasted horrible. Building is very grand and generally the property and rooms are maintained to a high standard, it was just a shame we have a couple of things that impacted our stay and made us unlikely to return in the future"
"It’s pretty run down looking, bed and pillows not very comfortable. The breakfast staff were not attentive in the slightest, one morning we came down at 9:15, no one around no cups, glasses or utensils to be seen. Had to ask front desk staff for help. service was not up to hotel standard. The ladies on the front desk were friendly with a smile. Location is pretty good. Shower leaked water all over bathroom floor which had to be mopped up with the towels each morning. I probably would not recommend to my friends unless they were just looking for a bed and shower for the night."
"The spa and pool was excellent and the gym fantastic. Quiet location, a little out of the way. Nice room and extra large bed. Bathroom a bit dated but acceptable.
Nice bar, golf course and tennis facilities including paddle courts. "
"Tired hotel on the outskirts of Colchester. The least friendly check in I’ve ever had at a hotel, miserable receptionist. The room stank of cigarette smoke and the cleanliness left a bit to be desired!"
