「Comfy room, generous towels. Arrived late Friday evening, no bother getting a table in the pub downstairs for food- they don't take table reservations, so I wasn't at a disadvantage. Good wide choice on the menu and attentive service. There was a nightwatchman for after hours- what a treasure! He showed me how to access once the pub was closed, helped me empty the bags from the car and carried them to our room all with a friendly, nothing was too much trouble approach. 「I am going to celebrate my husband's wedding. The hotel is cosy and unique, it has a nice restaurant where we had dinner and breakfast during our stay, and a small library bar where you can chill with friends. The room is spacious and warm, we love this hotel.」

「Staff were great, the hotel looked stunning and the grounds were amazing. The breakfast was delicious too. The room we had was in the attic so I kept hitting my head, the main light in the room was above the doorway which was around a corner so didn’t really help at all. There was water and hair in the bottom of the shower when we arrived as if someone had only just had a shower. There were patches of damp in the room around the window and on the ceiling.」

The parking was good as the car park is huge. The shower was somewhat disappointing as it was merely more than a trickle. Overall, a great weekend with family and friends, we booked 7 rooms.」

「The Village Inn is in a beautiful setting. Plentiful parking, easy and quick check in and able to book a table for dinner. The room was spacious and comfortable. The bed was a too firm for our liking but that was a minor detail. Dinner was delicious and great value. Good choices for breakfast - we had cereal, juice, poached egg on toast and tea. Service was great. Our visit was really good value.」

「The food was excellent and the potions enormous. It was rather remote so you needed a car to visit Durham. The park and ride (Belmont) was excellent but you will need sat nav to find it.Uber was £19 to Durham. Most of the staff very friendly a couple not so but didn’t spoil our stay」

「Although it was just a one night stay for me I received a very warm welcome, shown to my room and all staff; reception, bar and restaurant were first class in their roles. Room was clean and tidy and bed very comfy. Good selection of food and cooked breakfast to order.」

「Had a two night stay in Room 1. Staff all friendly and helpful. WiFi was on the blink.so not available on our room. They said they needed to fix it. Room was spacious. Lovely bathroom but lighting in both room and bathroom could be brighter. Water hot but found controls on shower difficult to adjust. Tea making facilities all good but I brought my own herbal tea - only standard tea available. Small bottle of still and sparkling water provided.」

「The room was clean and functional. Plenty of parking. The receptionist who checked me in was miserable and didn’t make me feel welcome. Pretty sure I was the only one staying there. The hotel is very tired in most respects. It’s quite isolated also so you need a car to get anywhere. My room was located very close to the A19 so a lot of road traffic noise.」
