I liked the fact that this not a run of the mill motel It also reminded me so much of the house I lived in from 1959 - 62, not far away at Allesley (sadly gone). This was owned by Jaguar Cars to accommodate student apprentices. We were amazed by the old fireplace in the sitting room, part of one of the old City gates.

Although we almost turned around upon walking down the block towards the guest house, I am glad we stayed there. Paul, the custodian, was charming and helpful, the facilities were adequate, and access to food make a simple breakfast was nice, but every room should have a fan. I used this property as my base in Birmingham while I was attending an event at the NEC. It was so conveniently located the owners were so friendly and helpful that I wouldn’t hesitate to return to this lodging, should I have another event in Birmingham? The property has been recently updated. I really like the modern bathroom facilities.

The room was spotless, beautifully presented and extremely comfortable. You can tell a lot of care and attention goes into maintaining the property....

All of the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, and went out of their way to be helpful. Bear in mind, this is a budget hotel… But everything is new and spotlessly clean. However, it’s not really a B&B … although I gather from some reviews a breakfast is possible if you arrange in advance. I liked the fact that they had real coffee cups and glasses in the room instead of disposables, and it’s really thoughtful of them to provide guests with a bottle of real milk for coffee on arrival.…I...
