Great location, easy free parking, they had provided items that were not always available in much more expensive rooms. We will stay again if we are in the area.

Great position, poor admin?

Great position in the city, free parking, spacious room, but very hot (in July). Altho there was a fan, it was too noisy to leave on at night. A bit disconcerting to have someone trying to enter the room at 01:15 saying that the key to our room had been allocated to him! It was lucky that there was a chain on the door that we'd chosen to use.

The property is not staffed, I arrived and my room key was not there, turned out my room was already booked and someone in it. No alternate rooms in this or sister hotel. Not at toy by them to help find another hotel. Not heard directly from the hotel to apologise or arrange refund / compensation. All round poor.

Fantastic value for money

Wonderful stay. The room was as advertised; perfectly clean and tidy, short distance from the station, easy to locate keys for access. We were not expecting such a high standard for the low price, we would have liked to stay longer!

Pain in the back side, when no reception. Probably my fault for not reading full script. Codes for doors and parking night mare, so spent ages waiting for help. Will be staying in a proper hotel next time. And by the way, room was not that clean or what I had hoped for.

Clean, basic accommodation

The room was nice and clean and was pretty spacious with plenty of daylight. The location is very central so the included parking is essential. I'd describe this as basic accommodation as it's a wedding venue. When there is no event they let out the rooms but with no staff on site or any of the usual hotel facilities. Entry instructions are emailed the day before your stay - beware Google mail send this to spam. Access to the rooms is up several flights of steep stairs so unsuitable for those who struggle with this.

This is an unstaffed hotel. There was quite a complicated check-in procedure involving codes, but when I got to the key safe, the keys weren't there. I called the emergency number and within a few minutes someone came and provided me with a spare key, which was very helpful. The room was accessed via a rabbit warren of stairs and corridors. There was no breakfast provided; however, I was directed to another hotel nearby where I could get breakfast. The City Rooms is advertised as a luxury boutique hotel. The reality is very different.

Hotel Room was lovely! Beautiful building, clean and Quiet. Did not receive any information via Expedia from the hotel regarding check in despite contacting them over 6 times the day prior to visiting. Phone number did not answer but sister hotel was as helpful as could be. There was an issue with the messaging, they were able to send the information via email but this took a lot of effort and time to sort. Parking was incredibly difficult, not able to turn around in car park so almost need to reverse in to be able to get out when leaving. When we arrived the key was missing from the key safe and the bedroom door left open. We had to find staff to find the key they had misplaced which was worrying given the lack of correspondence prior to arriving.

Few things I'd like to point out : the room was very spacious, so much so that a sofa would be very appropriate at the end of the bed, considering there's only one desk chair and the bed is super low. The TV is super far from the bed, a sofa or sofa chairs would be a welcomed addition. Secondly, I drew a bath, that took an hour to fill, not only because the tub was larger than average, but because the stream was so low. Literally an hour, I timed it. And for security reasons, you should very much consider adding handles to the tub to get in and out. I have a bad back and had trouble maneuvering without them. And yes, the night crawlers are quiet loud. They only subsided at around 2am. Thanks for the ear plugs! :/

Its a good location but the building is all a bit old and tatty - although room and bathroom were clean there are nicer places to stay in Leicester. The price was cheaper than other places so i should have known. But i guess it was OK. There was NO parking on site - so you have to pay for that unlike other places

Fabulous stay. I checked in online the evening before as the property does not have a recpetion. We got there about 3pm and the PIN we were sent was wrong. Luckily a man was there who helped by phoning for us. We were not informed of which room we had or how to access the key. Once again the man (sorry we do not know who he was) helped us - thank goodness. The hotel was beautiful. The location was very centeral but quiet. A huge and very clean room really good and comfortable. The password for the wifi on an information sheet in the room omitted the second exclamation mark. Had to email the main hotel to get the correct password. Wonderful hotel and would definately stay again but they do need to improve their communication

Really pleased with this place. Massive, clean room. Easy to retreive keys. Car park information was conflicting, said midday the day before and 10.30 in the room info. Thank you for the fan it was much needed.

Good overall room i would go back .

Middle of the town so good for food etc..... parking was good i did struggle to find it, even when i got the map , probably just me ….. Room was clean and tidy, nice big smart TV , good coffee machine bed was comfy, shower / bath could do with a slip mat but all in all it was fine. I stayed in room 4 which was up a few very steep stairways i would not recommend if you struggle physically to be honest.

A beautiful, peaceful stay! So much space and goregous natural light streaming through sash windiws in the morning. The rooms are in an historic, listed building, so there are quirks and without the radiators it can be chilly, so if staying in the winter months consider bringing a cosy dressing gown to wrap up in, especially after a relaxing soak in the huge bathtub. The coffee machine and chocolates were a wonderful treat. As was waking up right in the city centre.

The room was great, comfortable and clean but unfortunately the sash windows are loose so were rattling loudly throughout the night so I couldn't get any sleep. I contacted the hotel to see if anything could be done to compensate but was told that because it's a grade 2 building it's a characteristic of the accommodation. What I would suggest is putting some wooden wedges around the window frame to eliminate the movement. If it wasn't from the noisy windows preventing me from getting to sleep I'd give this hotel 5 stars.
