Second time staying here. 10 minute walk from the Chiayi train station. Lots of local restaurants in the alleys nearby. I stayed in a private room. The room itself was comfortable. It was clean, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was a bit odd. I got some coupons to a local restaurants. Last time I stayed, they had waffles, fruit, and bread. Wonder if it changed or if it was because I booked a private room.
The owner seems to take a lot of pride in the hostel and it is a good place to stay. You can tell the effort that he put into maintaining it.
They seem to have expanded since I last came. They now have a section on the 6th floor whereas the main section is on the 14th floor. This may be a problem if you cannot sleep with the street noise. This is Taiwan, so the streets are noisy with scooters. 14th floor didn't have this problem, but the 6th floor did. So bring earplugs just in case.
The hostel is located in a Taiwanese apartment building . This means no insulation and no heat (I live in Taiwan, and this is standard building practice in most buildings) . The room has AC, but if going in the winter, be advised to bring something warm to sleep in. I found the room a little cold even with the thick blanket they provided.
