We've got the lowdown on how to make your flight a stress-free experience. Follow our top tips and you'll be speeding through the airport and exploring Siberian Route before you know it. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a great experience if you carry the right stuff. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletries, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a spare set of clothes and a good book. Secondly, find room in your hand luggage for your laptop, a charger, medications and maybe a quality neck pillow too. Lastly, be sure to take your passport, travel docs and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp or pointed objects, like your beloved pocket knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, chemicals agents and strong acids, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- Go for comfort over style. Prepare for changes in temperature by donning layers, and opt for flat, closed-toe footwear like sneakers.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a potential risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clots forming due to poor circulation, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.
