• Air travel can be a cruisy experience if you carry the right gear. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletry items, such as deodorant, toothpaste and a toothbrush, a spare set of clothes and a magazine or two. Secondly, find a spot in your bag for your mobile phone, a charger, any vital medications and maybe a blow-up neck pillow as well. Last, but definitely not least, be sure to bring your passport, travel docs and some money.

Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:

• While the list of prohibited items can differ between air carriers, the general rule of thumb is avoid carrying anything sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes screwdrivers, blades, fuel and fireworks.
