Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a seamless experience if you've planned ahead. We've put together a list of handy tips that will help get your Little Chart escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- It's easy — first, pack in your passport, official ID, wallet and medications. Next, you'll need some extra in-flight entertainment to help pass the time. A juicy book and a tablet filled with your favorite movies are some terrific options. If you intend to take a short snooze, a comfy neck pillow and a pair of noise-canceling headphones will also come in handy. Finally, squeeze in a toothbrush and some cleansing wipes to ensure you step off the plane looking fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp objects, like your treasured pocket knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, bleaching agents and fireworks, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- Go for comfort over style. Prepare for temperature changes by donning layers, and pick closed-toe, flat footwear like sneakers.
- Most travelers have heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of sitting. To reduce your risk on board, drink plenty of water, consider wearing compression socks and move your legs and feet often.
