We've pulled together all the info you need to make your journey a stress-free experience. Follow our tips and you'll be cruising through airport security and enjoying Karapiro in no time. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane trip can be a great experience if you bring the right stuff. First things first, you'll need toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and hairbrush, a fresh change of clothes and a good novel. Secondly, make room in your carry-on bag for your phone and charger, your important medications and perhaps a quality neck pillow too. Lastly, remember to bring your passport, travel papers and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) won't be allowed on. Sharp or pointed objects, like a Swiss Army knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as spray paint, flares and matches, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an aircraft aren't the place for a fashion parade. Dress in comfortable layers and opt for shoes that are flat, enclosed and easy to remove.
- Most travelers have heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of sitting. To lower your risk on board, drink plenty of water, consider wearing compression socks and move your lower limbs often.
